Any body have one for a M/T. This is a Toyota 20 valve Silvertop. According to the check engine diagnostic and the Toyota Service manual it needs another. Thanks for any help.:banghead:

I used to have a 20v silvertop, and I'm fairly sure that the A/T computer works on a manual trans car just fine with a couple of wires jumpered. Visit www.mr2oc.com and they can confirm.

The Toyota 20v is a non-US (i.e. Japan and other countries only) engine. The USDM 16v computer will not work. HOWEVER, due to the large number of 20v swaps you can sometimes find them in the junkyard... just wanted to give you a heads-up in case you weren't totally on the up-and-up in regards to the 20v. If you already know this, my apologies :)

Sorry to bring back a thread from the dead...but:

I run a 20V silvertop in my AE86.

Try forums.club4ag.com or www.mr2oc.com.

If all else fails - I think I have an extra laying around somewhere- and yes, either the manual or auto ECU will work fine.

Thanks for the offers guys. I should have posted earlier but I got one from Singapore. Needed to get it running. Does anyone know how to get the computer (my old one) out of safe mode? Thanks again.

Graham.

None, that is the problem. It has gone into safe mode where it will not throw out any. Continual flashing means all ok which it is not and does not do. What it does is retards the timing and makes it as slow as hell. Makes it run rich too. This is apparently so you can limp it home and won't damage the motor.

Thanks for the response.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to get back.

Have you wired up the speed sensor? I know the blacktops have it, but I cannot remember if Silvertops do or not.

These are the sensors have an impact of air/fuel:

-AFM

-o2

-coolant temp

-tps

I would try replacing the AFM. You should be be able to use a 5-sfe AFM. O2 and tps can simply be disconnected for testing purposes and neither of them would cause "limp mode" when disconnected. The coolant temp sensor, if sending the wrong voltage, could have an impact on the air/fuel mixture. If the coolant temp sensor were disconnected entirely, the car wouldn't even start.

I would take a look at that coolant sensor, and try disconnecting the tps as well as the o2.

I would also try looking at the TPS pins. I had one come loose one time. Have you checked all your fuses? Short of that, I would also look into replacing the ECU.
