Well things are progressing slowly right now. All the major work is done so I am relaxing now and getting ready for Boy Scout camp and vacation. It looks like we will have between ten and twenty 7's of all types here in KC Aug. 30,31 for the festivies. Registration for the Sunday car show is now open at http://www.kcallbritish.com/. I still have not figured how much the Saturday BBQ is going to be yet but it will probably be around $9 to $12 each. More on that later. Russ Amos

Well, it is 1 ½ months till the August 30-31 Midwest Se7ens Gathering, here in KC, and things are progressing quite well. I am still looking for more participants because the more the merrier. The Saturday Blat is all laid out, the Sunday car show and motorcycle trials demo is ready, and I am still trying to arrange the BBQ catering for the Saturday night get-together at my house. That is the reason for this note. If you are coming to this event and you have not contacted me previously, please contact me at trialsman@kc.rr.com as soon as possible. I need to get a count of people attending so I can get catering costs. You do not have to have a completed Se7en to come to this event-- just a love of the car.

Here is the latest schedule of events:

 

Friday Aug. 29

7-10pm Informal welcoming get together at my house in Shawnee, Ks;

 

Saturday Aug. 30

7:30-10am Pay-as-you-go breakfast at Sharps restaurant in Brookside, Mo.;

10am-2pm 125-150 mile blat around the local twisties with a lunch stop in historic Weston, Mo.;

2-6pm free time;

6-10pm BBQ/car wash/BS session at my house (BYOB) in Shawnee, Ks.;

 

Sunday Aug. 31

10am-3pm Kansas City All British Car And Motorcycle Show (http://kcallbritish.tripod.com/) at the KCI Marriott Hotel in Kansas City north. Se7ens are the “Featured Marque” at the show this year. At 2pm there will be a Motorcycle trials demo put on by members of the MidAmerica Trials Team (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nj5UzEu1Gzc ) Awards will be handed out at 3pm. All Se7ens will receive special awards that I have made. The voting for these awards will be done by the Se7ens group. The 4 sub classes will be: Original Lotus Sevens, Caterhams, Kit Se7ens, and Locosts. In addition to these awards, all Se7ens are eligible for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place “show” awards based on the entire class. After the show we can go back to my house or go out to dinner or whatever.

Well it is about 45 days till the Midwest Se7ens Gathering here in Kansas City and almost all the planning and ground work is done. Awards are finished and the BBQ is almost finished planning. All I need is a final count of attendees. Right now I have the following signed up as a “YES” to coming: (2) Stalkers, (2) Locosts, (1) Lotus 7, (1) Dutton, and (3) without cars. There are (8) other cars that have said “MAYBE”. So there is still a lot of room for more Se7eners. You don’t need to have a Se7en to attend. Just a love of the cars. Well it is three weeks till the Midwest Se7ens Gathering here in Kansas City on Aug 29-30. We have eleven Se7ens that have said they are coming plus several others who do not have cars ready yet. So it is still not too late to get on the bandwagon. The famous (or infamous) Jack McCornack with Kinetic Aerospace will be there to talk about his X-prize diesel powered Se7en (Sorry his car will not be there. Still being rebuilt after his accident). There will be all types of Se7ens to look at and maybe even getting a ride in. So plan on being in KC. Festivities start Friday 8/29 with free drinks and socializing at my house in Shawnee 7-10pm. Then Saturday 8/30 a breakfast (pay as you go) at Sharpes Restaurant in KC 7:45-10am. From there we start our Blat at KCI airport approx. 10:30am till about 2pm, with a stop over in Weston, Mo for a pay as you go lunch. After that we have a BBQ at my house in Shawnee BYOB. 4pm-??? Still working on a price but it won't be much. More on that later. And then the crowning jewel on Sunday 8/31 The Kansas City All British Car Show at KCI Marriott. The Se7en will be the featured marque of the show. 8-10:30 Registration, 10:30-noon Voting, 1pm Motorcycle Observed Trials Riding Demo, 3pm Awards presentation. Well one week to go till the August 29-31 Midwest Se7ens gathering. We have twelve 7’s of all types coming plus the possibility for 3 or 4 more. So if you live in the Midwest or even elsewhere you should come. Hell, the show on Sunday the 31st is located at Kansas City International Airport. You could land and walk to it. If you are interested please contact me ASAP because I need to get the BBQ for Saturday night ordered. Russ

I took a couple of days off to recoup after the Midwest Se7ens Gathering. And that is why I have not answered any of your wonderful emails and posts. Putting on this event was THE highlight of my Se7en ownership. It was a lot of hard work but it was worth every hour that I put into it. Meeting all of you great people, going on our spirited blat, the BBQ, and the car show were all too great to describe. I feel like I have 30 new, and very close, friends. I hope to see some of you again before the National Se7ens Meet in Branson in 2009 but if not I will see you there. They are going to need lots of volunteers to help organize and run it so please contact Al Navarro at usa7s.com to put your name in the hat. Also if you did not have a Se7en this year get off the damn computer and get out in the garage and get to work!!!!!! Russ “still tired” Amos

ps: Cliff, I did sit down for 4 hours yesterday in my truck as I drove to Trenton, Mo.(2 hour drive each way) to start sitting up for our motorcycle trials on Sep20-21.
