Recommended Posts

Friday I glued new black vinyl fabric to the steel dash .. then cut out the holes .. and yesterday mounted my new dash to the car. Also installed my new horn pin setup in the dash .. looks and works great!

Today I will reinstall all the gauges .. and relearn what all the wires are for? :willy: Plus wire in some new functions! :yesnod:

Finally finished all the custom wiring under the scuttle .. I added more webbing to the wiring nest .. and labeled many wires as I went ..

Cleaned up some cables wires with long pieces of shrink wrapping.

New windshield wiper delay circuit .. controlled with vintage Atari PONG potentiometer!

New CHMSL circuit with two flashing modes.

New Daytime Running Lights circuit.

New self-cancelling turn signal circuit.

there are six diodes to isolate various functions in the above circuits.

Rewired the charging interface for the tricle charger.

Added a switch to the handbrake.

Modified the 1970's Toyota Hazard pull switch to work with the turn signal circuit. It is now a momentary contact pull switch! :D

Modified the 1970's Toyota Windshield Wiper switch to work with the Lucas MGB wiper relay circuits.

I simplified wiring to each of the Toyota switches with original wiring plug assemblies.

Still worth mentioning:

Old: Muth Signal Mirror Multifunction Circuit.

That's a total of five custom circuits added to the car!

Tomorrow I hope to reinstall the scuttle .. Muth motorcycle signal mirrors and windshield.

I am hoping with all my might that the wipers make the 'boop' noises as they change direction.

Job work and Celica work has kept me for working on the Rotus7 for a long time ..

(I crashed the Celica last fall and now I have a newly rebuilt engine in the Celica bay with newly painted parts installed for the front end ... Hope to have the Celica together in the next few days .. )

Then focus on the Rotus7 again .. warm weather is coming .. and the Atlanta snow is melting!

Rob,

Good to see you at it again. :) Tomorrow I trailer my Rotus from PTC up to the new digs in East Point. I found a great connection for body/upholstery work last week at work, so some of the detail stuff like carpets that I never finished may get done.

I need to swap my brake light to a mechanical switch also, could you post a pic of yours?

Cheers,

John

Just checking up on an old post .. John .. hopefully I can show you in person! It is just a simple L shaped piece of aluminum bolted in the adjusting groove and holding a Toyota brake switch against the brake petal travel.

Yesterday I finished installing the windshield .. with slightly longer screws through the uprights to hopefully hold better ..

and reinstalled the two Muth Signal Mirrors .. wired them in and checked all the functions that the Muth Multifunction Module does:

Fast strobe in Reverse

Brake light function

Fast strobe when blasting the Hella Supertone Horns

Simulated Alarm Tic.

Wiring is FINISHED !!!!

TO DO:

Install some 3M protective film on some critical areas.

Install two Caterham Leather Seats (weld new brackets for the runners)

Install the seat belts

Reinstall the exhaust .. (probably fab a new one later).

Gas her up .. tune the carbs again and roll her out!

Install interior panels
