slngsht
This was posted on se7ens.net... Its a 2 year old Birkin S3 with approximately 12,500 miles. I am the second owner and I’ve had it about a year. It has a Ford ZX3 engine (was a new crate engine when the car was built) with the stock fuel injection and controlled by a stock Ford ECU. It is yellow with carbon fiber front wings, dash, and rear wing guards. Perhaps most important, it has the SB100 exemption for California so no smog inspections are required in California. Of course you would need to check your own state’s rules as I know they all differ! I'm asking $20,000. The ZX3 engine in my car is the same that was used in the Ford Focus ZX3 in the 2000 model year, and was rated at 130 hp. It is generally agreed to have about 140 hp in the Birkin due to the less restrictive exhaust (no catalytic converter). My car has never been dynoed, but we did weigh it at 1300 pounds. The previous owner said he borrowed a GTech Pro unit and was getting mid 5 second 0 to 60 times, but I haven't verified this. It feels fast though! My gearbox is a semi-close ratio 5 speed unit. It has Avo adjustable shocks up front, and Spax adjustables on the rear. I just replaced the tires last month with new Toyo T1-S's (195-45-15). I had Woody at MSI Motorsports (Vacaville, CA) strengthen my front lower A-arms and replace the A-arm ball joints as these were prone to bending or failure on the my year Birkin. My chassis is a year 2000 chassis but the car was not completed and registered until June 2003. The builder lives in S. Calif., and he drove the car as nearly a daily driver for the year he owned it. I bought it a year ago with about 9500 miles on it, and put on the additional 3000 miles with weekend drives. I've done two minor modifications - I replaced the key/ignition switch with a push button start (this can be reversed as I kept the parts), and I added a high mounted stoplight to the rollbar. The only problem that I ever had was an intermittent short from a loose wire that took me awhile to track down right after I bought it, and it has been running flawlessly since! The seat upholstery is in perfect shape but there is some minor scuffing of the vinyl on the cockpit walls and center tunnel. There are some minor small rock chips in the paint of the nose and rear fenders that these cars get. There is no heater or weather gear (top or doors) or windshield defroster as they are not needed here in S. Calif., but they are available from Birkin if you want to add them. solder_guy
Are those stick on reflectors on the front fenders and rear? I like the idea of increased visibility .. but stick on reflectors?? Now if the two on the front fenders were side lights .. that's something else. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
soareyes
Fronts are turn-signal indicators, rears are reflectors, both are standard on the Birkin.
Loc-Nar
I miss my old car. I hope that the owners have enjoyed this thing over the years as much as i did. I occasionally try to track it down to no avail. Just even to see it. Replying to a 2005 post in 2022. It seems to have disappeared. 😞 I really miss this car.
