Hank Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Thanks for posting. I saw the tail end of it yesterday and I wanted to see the entire thing.
solder_guy Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Everytime I see that commercial I think about .. And as you know .. the lunar rover had wire tires (air tires would not work .. too much launch weight and possibly fail in a vacuum) .. On the other hand the prelaunch practice rover at NASA had air tires. And the life support packs are too small! Although the Apollo astronauts had fun .. they were carrying a 360 pound life support pack = 60 pounds on the Moon. The same Lunar life support pack on Mars will be heavier .. 137 pounds. You cannot get much work done with the weight of a wife or girlfriend on your back. Can NASA drop the weight much to make a MARS eva reasonably feasible? Rob
Hank Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Hell, I thought they already came up with the scenario that by the time astronauts make it to Mars the solar radiation would have penetrated the space capsule and turned them into bumbling idiots? Maybe they found a quicker rocket.
