Mondo
I think it came out pretty good. It has some super heat reflective material around the muffler section (not that stuff in the seat) and the rest of the shield has enough air space so that it doesn't get hot. JohnK
Very nice Mondo ! Very trim, fits in with the car, looks "factory". What'd you use for the starting pieces?
Mondo
Had local fab/speed shop make it up for me (I have no metal working skill).. He had someone bend 3 pieces of sheetmetal (it's kind of thick & heavy actually). I think the bends were 5 inch, 6inch diameters & the middle piece that went from one to the other. He welded it up and ground it smooth... along with the cutouts & tabbed on some nut-like things to the exhaust so it could bolt up in 3 places. The rear of the muffler also has a bracket that mounts to the chassis so the whole system is not just hanging there (mine rattled at the header tube/collector section). I bought some really expensive heat shield material that is between the actual muffler section and the shield... seems to work. It was more work than what it looks like. We don't have a ceramic coating place in town (I was going to match the exhaust) and just painted it gloss black. I might send it off to Fresno if it chips up badly from rocks or paint burns off where it's bolted up.
snookwheel
That looks great! Nice work. I got my first leg burn within 15 minutes of owning my Stalker. A heat shield might be a good idea for me too. Scott
