slngsht
First here's a shot of what the bracket looks like. This is one of the early brackets, which is different than what most of you probably have: http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0236.jpg The dimension measured below is from the top bolt of the clutch flange, to the sheet metal. it is the same dimension from the top bolt of either master cylinder as well. With my new cylinders, this is too high - The hood doesn't shut properly. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0234.jpg Also, as you see below, the push rods are completely out of alignment, and that's probably b/c the pedal was cut and shortened at some point. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0235.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0237.jpg Anyway, I can make a new bracket, but I'm wondering if the later style brackets locate the master cylinder at a lower position. If so, I will try to get one through Dennis.
rotus8guy
The later style brackets do mount lower. I measured 4 3/8" to the bolt that you measured at 5". The later brackets (mine at least) are an off the shelf Tilton item mounted atop 1"x2" steel tubing. Hello to all on the forum, I've been lurking for a while but the mood finally struck me to post. I met Rob a few months back when he came down to look at my Rotus with an eye towards a purchase. Mine right now needs more work than he wanted to get into. I'm glad you found a Seven Rob! This forum has helped spur me to get into the garage and get the Rotus back on the road. Cheers, John Bowman Peachtree City, GA
slngsht
Thanks for the measurement. I'm taking mine apart tonight to get the pedal shortened, and move the master cylinders lower. Should be relatively easy. Please post some pics of your car in the General section.

solder_guy
What did you change about the brakes? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
slngsht
What did you change about the brakes? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA The bracket that holds the master cylinder is much shorter now, and the master cylinders are moved down by about 1.5". The brake pedal now has much more leverage (used to be around 4:1 - now it's at 7:1). Part of this problem was self inflicted. I went with 3/4" bore master cylinders instead of 5/8", which made the pedal effort much higher.
