My name is Martin Keller and my wife and I live in Newberg, Or. and Ventura, Ca. when we are not on the road.

My car is titled as a 1963 Lotus 7 Replica in Oct 2006 and driven every chance that I have and that is a lot here in SoCal. I used an MGB as the donor for the engine 1800cc, trans, rear dif and brake drums, front spindles and disk brakes. I built my frame and suspension from scratch and formed all the body parts except the nose cone which I purchased as it was easier than making one. Seats were I purchased along with the gas tank as I could buy them cheaper than I could build them. My paint job cost a total of $22.00 US (Six spray cans with enough leftover for touch-ups) now that is what I call Locost.

Here are some photos of my fun car.

Nice Craftmanship! Nice board (lifestyle)! Reminds me of the winter scene of a seven with skis!

No reverse light?

Martin,

The car looks really good. Nice job! You have given it some subtle style with the wheels and the rear fender treatment. To me it has a little bit of retro Cali hot rod style, especially with the surf board on top.

You can do a lot with a spray can. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/coolgleamA.gif My dad and I once painted my Jet Ski with cans. It was a pretty elaborate three color scheme with clear on top. We rubbed it out and brought it to a deep shine. Most everyone thought we took it to a professional shop to get that work done. That was back in '92...it still looks good today.

Martin, There are some guys in the LA area contemplating a weekend blat on the californiacaterhamclub.com website. If you would like to join some other guys in 7s for some fun just add yourself to the mix. The SoCal 7 community is fairly active and ALL 7s are aalways welcome!!!

first of all, thanks for all the build pics. was quite pleased to catch a glimpse of one of my other favorite cars. i've been a huge fan of the ugliest car porsche made (up until the panamera, but don't get me started) since i was a teen. had two 914's in my time and look to add another someday. brings up a quandry tho... which to drive to work? 7 or 14? sigh, the tough choices i'll have to make

You have good eyes to see my 914-6 in my garage in the last photo. What you done see in the backround because it is to the side is a 1973 MG Midget that I have been playing with for the last year. I have owned my 6 since June 7, 1970 and have owned nine other 914's over the years and at one time had one for everyday of the week.
