Interesting. There was an effort years ago to make a 4 valve overhead cam 4 cylinder engine out of composites for Midget Race Engines. It never got going. Sooner or later someone will make it work.

I remember reading about the Polimotor effort years ago in either R&T or C&D. I'd assumed the idea had died, but apparently not.

More Vaporware :-) Like Ponzi schemes a seemingly never ending supply :-)

 

Years..ago there was some effort to make utility motors (mowers/chainsaws/weedeaters etc) from plastic extrusions. Started as entire motors soon devolved into partial plastic components then finally air shrouds.

Just wasn't much of a price difference from metal and the materials were not as stable 'as advertised' .
