I just finished watching R1s video but I have 1 question. Jeff, why do you have outside mirrors and 1 on the rollbar on an Autocross machine? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/confused5.gif Ya know that's just excess weight you don't need. Are you planning on rubbing fenders with other racers or do you want to look back to see the whole grid getting smaller and smaller? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif I'm finishing the upgrades to my interior and should be blatting later this week. I may even get my 13" A048s on as well. I'm also working on half doors with clear vinyl windows and a shorty tonneau top for those not so perfect days. Most of the polishing is finished but I may go back over a couple of spots and edges. Finished and installed my new exhaust guards. They're approx 1 lb. not bad for steel. Contoured expanded steel grating and its lighter than my aluminum guards I removed. Cut down my leaf spring and centered it. Now its softer and my weight is only 10lbs off center not 50lbs. Busa and R1 later. Mazda, I'll keep coming back and ramble to myself. Its O.K. they know me in my own little world. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gifandrew72007-03-26 20:42:
slngsht
Usually they only give a 30 second pause between cars on the autox course... he'll need the mirrors in case i'm behind him in the lineup http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif I'm joking of course. I suspect he'll be running more than just autox with that mean machine http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif I'm glad you posted here... I thought the section was dying. R1 Seven
Alright...I will try and do better. Actually things should be picking up here pretty soon. I will have plenty of track weekends to talk about starting this weekend at VIR full course. The car is not really an autocross car. It is primarily a track machine, and good mirrors are pretty important there. Always need to know what is going on around you. I will be doing a good bit of autocross with the car this year just to learn more about the car and to monkey with different setup stuff. The tires on it are more suited for the track since they are skinny and a road race compound. Once the car gets sorted some more and I get more comfortable with it's traits, expect a move over to slicks with a little more grip for the turns. And Mazda...good luck with that whole catching up bit. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/reddevil.gifhttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrinjester.gif
andrew7
Would you define Track Machine? Which racing body and division? SCCA E-mod? Mazda doesn't need luck to catch up, He needs a Pope verified Miracle. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/rofl.gif
R1 Seven
At this point, not actual wheel to wheel racing. What I do are mostly just track days and some time trials on road courses. I do in car instruction for various clubs in my area so that lets me get to the track quite a bit these days. If at some point I decide to take the car wheel to wheel racing, the best fit for a road race class would be SCCA SPU (Super Production Under) The under is for displacement under 2 liters I think (don't quote me on that number). It is kind of a catch all small bore class. I would have to add a couple more door bars to the cage, get a proper racing fuel cell, and add a fire system. Not a huge leap...I built the car with that in mind. Honestly though I have a blast doing the track days, get more seat time, and spend much less money than a racing budget would require. Most guys build or buy them to go have fun on the backroads on weekends...I did the same thing, but having fun at the track was what I had in mind for weekend fun. slngsht
And Mazda...good luck with that whole catching up bit. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/reddevil.gifhttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrinjester.gif 30 seconds might be too much. I'll settle for .03 seconds http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif Honestly, I don't have high autox expectations, but that doesn't prevent me from some trash talkin' http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif

BusaLoco
I wonder if it would not be to much to ask that we ALL please adhere to the rules. As you know, this is a 7 based forum and we must remain vigilant to prevent our purely SEVEN discussions (and videos) from contamination from blatently crass and mercinary advertizements, brochures and the like. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation! Cheers!
