slngsht Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I'm about to do a change of front uprights and A-arms in the next couple of weeks. Obviously since I have the car and the uprights, my hands will be tied as to what I can work with. But before I start, I'm going to analyze it, and make sure what I'm about to attempt isn't going to screw things up. My questions are: 1- How much movement of the roll center is "normal", both horizontally and vertically? From what I had read in the past, ideally the roll center needs to be above ground, and below the rear roll center? I could be totally wrong on that. 2- How much camber change is reasonable (i.e. at what point would it be considered a reasonably good setup) - as a function of roll or dive. I'm already aware of making sure the motion ratio for the spring should stay linear, so I'll be working on that. Any pointers welcome.
sb427f-car Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I know front roll center should be about 3/4s of the rear roll center? So your statement/question about it being below the rear's is correct. Ideally, from what I have read/understood from Staniforth's book (competition car suspension: a practical guide, 4th ed., good reference and a must read before building), is that as low to the ground for roll center as possible?
