Smittyb Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 G'day, new member here,,just wondering who has done this and could you give me some direction? Thx
Jackal Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 I haven't even done the process for my car in Alberta yet, but I remember being reffered to this site. http://locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=7012&hilit=ontario At a quick glance there appears to be some helpful info here. I hope it helps.
ayseven Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I did mine last year. The information is out there, but don't expect the MTO to explain it to you! Whatever you do, call your car a "kit car", unless it's a Caterham, in which case none of this matters, because David has them registered in BC already. Be a bit more specific about what you have in mind.
SkinnyG Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 (edited) (edited my question for no future confusion) Call your car a Kit Car for the least hassle. Edited September 22, 2012 by SkinnyG
twobone Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I'm no expert, but I think you may be better off with a kit car registration. Otherwise you face drive clean etest requirements and other nasty requirements
ayseven Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 CALL IT a Kit Car. Do. As mentioned, it causes all sorts of problems otherwise.
ptrxly Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 The kit car template is what I followed in 2006 with a only a few issues. The first MOT licensing office (Aurora) was not familiar with this and refused to even read it. The second office (Newmarket)was much more accommodating and eager to help. Unfortunately, the author of the template, Pandora Macmillan, has retired from the MOT. Hopefully, her replacement will be as helpfull and devoted as she was. Good luck.
ayseven Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 you can always email me at phoffen2001 at yahoo dot com with any questions as to Ontario. My Deman went through fairly easily (in the end).
Guest Terry Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 David's cars arn't called Caterhams they are registered as a Replikit
ayseven Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Good to know. The information I have given here, is Ontario specific. Every province is of course, different. Yesterday was a beautiful afternoon for a drive, and today will be the same!
paulmon Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I went through Ontario Registration and TOTALLY know how to get through it now, if anyone needs help just drop me a line. I received a full registration last fall after literally years of trying and learning. Paul
