Oscar
I'm into the car between $12k and $14k. I would like to get that back in a perfect world but I am open to offers. Oh and it was previously registered as a Dutton. The Netherlands Reg says its a 1980 Dutton. My bill of sale, and all my import docs (3520 and HS-7 say 1980 Caterham), which is clearly an error. thanks again guys, Oscar Edited August 6, 2013 by Oscar
Oscar
No longer for sale. can't go into the winter months without something in pieces in the garage.
cbudgo
If you're serious about holding onto it and dont think you can dig up another project, I'll hold onto my cash and make sure I have a space in my garage in April/May. This sounds just like what I need. Will it fit a 6'3" 200 pounder?? Thanks
Oscar
I couldn't say with any certainty about the fit, but you can feel free to come over anytime if you are in the south east and go for a drive.
cbudgo
is the pedal box adjustable? or does the seat have some travel you haven't used yourself?
Oscar
seats are non adjustable and I have never looked at the pedals. Next time I'm at the car I'll take a closer look and maybe measure from base of the seat back to the brake pedal as a point of reference.
cbudgo
Thanks very much. That may help and I can compare it to the distance in my vehicle. I'll keep this on my list of possible targets for the Spring. I'll start planning to sell my Miata around then. Only room for one in the garage. Worse case I could swap out the seats or put in tracks to provide more travel. Do you think that would buy more space or is your seatback right up against the roll bar or back to the max already? Regards, Bud Sat in a 1996 Caterham sprint classic SE last week in England. Very similar to the car Oscar has. http://www.hallmark-cars.com/vehicles%20sales/classicandsports_1.html It had the same standard seats but in vinyl. They are mounted directly to the rear passenger compartment bulkhead. Can't go back any further. Pedal box looks to be the only solution for more leg room. I'm 5'10" and it was spot on for leg room. Wish the car in the link was 6 years older so I could bring it back to America. Nice car at $15,
Oscar
47" from base of seat back to end of driver floor board. 41" from base of seat to brake pedal.
cbudgo
My Miata has 43.1" and I'm sure this could work. Worse case I could shorten a pedal or two which will provide more reach. I'll hope this is still available in the Spring, unless you put $20 grand of 'tinkering' into it I may still be interested. Unless I find something else in the meantime. The closer to a turnkey the better but I'm looking in the "stalled in the latter stages or just pay and drive" ranges of vehicles. in the meantime if I get down to your area, I'll send you a message to see if we can connect. Oscar
Sounds good. I really hope its doesn't turn in to $20k of tinkering too!
