On this site they have a 8 or 22 percent version. I do not want the 22 percent version, only the 8 percent. But when i click the 8 percent version it says they only have it available in the narrow track version. The widetrack kit i am getting says it come with steering rack extensions though, so would it work if i got the 8 percent rack with the narrow track version but added the steering rack extensions?

here is the widetrack i am getting…

MN Lotus - I have the wide track front on my Caterham. The only difference between the standard and the widetrack in the steering is a spacer between the tie-rod end and the steering rod coming out of the rack. Otherwise the rack and pinion steering is toatally interchangable.

They made a 8% left hand drive wide track rack, but I think it has been out of production for a while. The part # is on the bottom of the rack. I had it but can't find it now, but yes you can use the normal rack with the extenders. I believe my early 2000 car came with and 8%, the 2002 with a 22% both from the factory kit.

You might want to order a couple of the bump steer shims that go under the rack while you are at it. Pretty easy to make out of aluminum strip also.
