slngsht
This little gem was posted on corvetteforum in response to someone asking a question about various "horsepower" terms: German horses are the strongest, so German cars with relatively modest horsepower numbers are very fast. Italian horses are a close second in that regard. American horses are about average in terms of strength, but they often travel in larger herds than German or Italian horses. Japanese cars are rated according to the power produced by Pot Belly Pigs (PBP), not horses. The PBP are much weaker than horses, so for a Japanese and American car with equivalent power numbers, the American car will be faster. PBP have very short legs compared to horses, so the Japanese car will often have a higher redline. The marketing term is VTEC, but it basically describes PBP having to move their legs very quickly.
