scannon Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 My Caterham has the factory 2 pot front brakes. I bought a set of new pads from Jon at Caterham in Denver. They were delivered yesterday. As I was installing them I noticed that there are different markings on the pads. Two pads have the "AP Racing" logo and a part number (P3915-44-DS25H). The other two have nothing except an "L" stamped in the backing plate. I have a call into Jon but that usually takes days, if not weeks to get an answer. Does anyone know where I should install these pads? 1 logo and one L on each caliper, the L being on the left side of the disk? Two L pads on the left side of the car and the logo pads on the right? Do I have two different types of pad? Or does it not matter where they go? The friction material "looks" identical.
scannon Posted July 23, 2014 Author Posted July 23, 2014 I found a part number on the top surface of the L pads. FER3441F 335109 These pads do not have the groove in the friction material while the AP pad do. I guessed the FER prefix meant Ferodo and a google search on the part number led me to their website but searching on the number in various combinations yielded zip. Searching by car make gave different pad numbers. So it looks like I might have two different brands of pads. I think I will put the old pads back in as I have a canyon run on for Friday.
