1. In the last photo that I posted of the back of the Atom the 7 in front of it is Orange and yes Al it is now supporting an aero windshield and Morgan had a huge smile on his face when I said hello to him. He said that it sure dose make a big difference in how the car gets to speed and he likes it a lot.

The second photo is of a one of RR 1952 right hand drive roadster with a Carson top. So quiet when running that you had to listen hard to hear it running.....just beautiful....The gent behind the RR in the photo is the owners mechanic and chauffeur….must be nice.

Turned out to be a nice day but it was cold this morning 39 degrees (yes I know that is not cold) when I left the house to head to the meeting point for the start of the drive with the Vintage Motoring Group.

I post up a link later when the others on the run post up their photos as we do have some folks that can really take some good photos.

  3. Well I got the 7 out today as it was clear blue skies and by noon the temp was up to just over 50 degrees here in Ventura, CA. and when for a nice drive and visited a number of my friends (yes I do have friends that will acknowledge me as a friend) and got the car ready for the New Years Day Run that the Vintage Motoring Forum dose every new year’s day. I will put some photos up tomorrow after the run for all of the folks that are snow bound or have put their car away for the winter. Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

  4. Just my belief but due to the angles shown in that clip that was just a very good camera with a very good lenses most likely mounted on a stand or a good telescope with video recording ability.

The reason that I say that is at 2:22 time stamp the angle goes up to show the top of the ridge line and then zooms in to show a peak at 2:28 time stamp.

I would bet it might have been a very good portable telescope normally used to look at the stars and planets with video recording ability and not a satellite but that is my belief and yes I do believe that there are satellites that can look down and see things that clearly also but not in that clip to stationary for one reason besides the expense and resources needed to do that would be very very big.

    Very Cool though.

  5. Your are correct Jerry and you also need to purchase the filler neck.

  6. Well here are the first two autocross events for the 2011 season being put on by the Santa Barbara Region Porsche Club.

Both of these events are open to all who sign up no matter what the make of auto even if it is not a Porsche.

The first event is at the Earl Warren Fair Grounds in Santa Barbara, CA. and is on March 20, 2011.

The second event is at the Camarillo Airport in Camarillo, CA. and is on April 30, 2011.

These events fill up fast and are a lot of fun to participate in or just watch.

They are also a good way to learn the limits of your car and your driving abilities within a safe and controlled area and to just have fun.

Hopefully I will see some of you at either of these two events in the coming new year so start to plain now.

If you have questions please contact either Dan Byers or Martin Keller the Co-Chairs for these events.

  7. Very neat and I suspect expensive for a toy that could be considered a weapon in the wrong hands. :)

I find it interesting that they had to have a launch rail to get it airborn but I guess takeoff from the ground would require landing gear which would cause drag while flying and slow it up.

  8. Try switching off the fuel pump if it is electrical while the engine is running and let it run out of fuel. This will use all the fuel in the carbs float bowls and the fuel lines. I do this with all my carborated cars and it seems to work plus it prevents someone from starting the car unless they know to turn on the fuel pump first and let it build pressure, kind of an anti-theft devise plus it keeps the float bowls form becoming lacquered from the gas.

The other thing would be to put a bathroom exhaust vent into the garage to vent the air. You could put it on a timer so it does not run all the time if you wanted.

  9. To me it looks like it could be a CMC 7 or a Locost.

From the rims I would say it is Miata powered and most likely a CMC 7.

CMC was a small company that was in Florida and made a 7 clone using a Miata as its donner vehicle while they were in business. I have seen three completed CMC car and they are a good buy for the money I think.

Keith Tanner of Flying Miata has one and I think his was featured in several magazines such as GRM.

Nice looking 7 from what I can see. Wish the glare was not as bad in the photo.

  10. You could buy a compressor, a spray gun, and a gallon of paint and still be under a grand if you do it yourself. Get enough wet/dry sandpaper to sand out your defects.

Have to agree with SkinnyG or you could do what I have done and that is to buy a number of spray paint cans and get busy spraying the car. Not a show car finish but sure was inexpensive and quick and touch ups are very easy.

    See attached photo

I know I am a cheap skate but it is my toy and I would rather spend my money on the other toys.
