  1. "You should have kept the miata." Miata vs. Seven: can we see a show of hands! To be clear, Bill, it is largely your fault (or to your credit) that I was overtaken by seven fever...again. What's a guy to do? And though this behemoth doesn't qualify as a true seven, it may be as close as I ever get. We shouldn't be expected to behave rationally where sevens are involved!
  2. Following up on the discussion re Croc's insights and, in my opinion, well-placed humor, I bought a car through Craigslist which Mike had likened to a dune buggy (and no wonder...it was sitting on 22s). Once it's a bit further along, I intend to post some photos, and I look forward to some good natured ribbing. I especially want to speak for all of us by expressing appreciation for Croc's ongoing service in researching and posting so many fascinating cars and occasionally making useful and entertaining comments. A highlight of every weekend! Many thanks!
  3. As an enthusiast without a Seven, I usually stay on the sidelines; but upon learning of the extent of your injuries, I feel compelled to chime in. Certainly, we were all hoping for lesser injuries, but as long as you have escaped without cord involvement, all is (relatively) well. As a PT with several years on trauma units, I would encourage you to postpone your inclination to "get going" until you have a bright green light from the docs. Your use of the word "complicated" suggests the possibility of one or more burst fractures, which are not to be trifled with. So, joining your long list of well-wishers, I encourage you to be a patient patient until you know for sure that you are cleared to begin moving without fear of extending your injuries. All best wishes, Joe
  4. I usually follow this site from the wings, but this thread calls for a comment. After many years of hot rod Mustangs, my first Miata gave a whole new meaning to the word "fun'" which naturally led to a boosted Miata. Now there's only one car left that could be more fun than a well-sorted turbo miata. Many thanks to Croc and all you folks for the overview of the marketplace and the ongoing education.
  5. I really hope you are able to "stay the course" and work out the emissions issues. It would be a shame to give up a seven on a technicality. But if you decide to continue to look on the other side of the fence, I want offer my Miata for your consideration. It was previously owned by our local Mazda dealer, a serious car guy with over 200 career wins, including the 24 Hours of Daytona. This is not your average Miata.
  6. FWIW: About three weeks ago, I spoke with Gregg Babetz, GM of Lotus Greenville (and now Maserati), who said that the '13 Birkin had been sold and was awaiting a replacement half-shaft prior to being shipped to its new owner. While the deal must have fallen through, it appears that there continue to be a few buyers out there, and suggests that, as always, a car is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
