  1. yes, it was the aluminium Buick mill. A torque monster for that coat considering it weighed about the same as the commonly used VW 4 pot
  2. No, but thanks. I will.
  3. I'm disappointed, but not surprised to have no leads on this car in 6 months. It's probably wadded up on a greasy bend somewhere, that V8 would easily catch you if you weren't ready. anyway, pop turns 75 in a week, and he is too ill to see 76, so this is a shameless bump on my own thread to see if any info might turn up. Even a recent pic would be a great gift.
  4. I remember lighting up dark parking lots with a cold engine and a blip of the throttle. The V8 would toss a three foot flame. Amazing how even the exhaust of these machines can create emotion, and you don't even have to hear it to love it. I hope to find my Rotus back one day.
  5. This car was built by my father and I when I was in high school. I was sad when he sold it, but understood as his childhood 1951 Chev Bel Air came back to him. Now, I am searching for this weapon again as dad has had a terrible stroke and can't drive his toys anymore. I want to take him out in The little beast if I could. I would possibly even purchase it from the current owner as it holds many memories for me. these pics went with an ad from the third owner that was quite incorrect. The seller back then stated it had a solid cam, when it just had noisy tappets. Also, the ad said "never raced or abused". Huge LOL as the original centre caps had melted off at Shannonville Motorsport Park; at about the same time we melted the diff on long sweeping corners. The brake fluid boiled after only two laps, so we flushed it for dot5 fluid; then boiled the purple dye right out! Silly non vented rotors... Anyway, I want this car back home. I have almost convinced my wife for another toy, but may need to sell one to make room for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm not sure how much time dad has left. Feel free to ask any q's about the car. FYI: it is a Buick 215 bored out for chev 305 pistons. Cooling has always been an issue, just look at the extra fans and relays.
  6. I don't seem to be able to upload the images from my iPad, not sure what I am doing wrong. Ironically, the images on the google search are from this forum dated around 2002 when the car was leaving its third owner in Coe Hill Ontario. Interesting that it made it so close to home after being sold at the Carlisle market in PA.
  7. When I was in high school, I helped my father build a Rotus that was custom made for our tall family and Buick V8 engine. I have been wanting to see the car again as it left Canada many years ago. It is easily recognizable by the Offy valve covers, and the last I saw it, someone put cheesy fake knock offs in the wheels. (We melted the original plastic centre caps at Shanninville Motorsport Park). I will try to upload pics as I find them, but there are 2 pics in a google search. My my father recently suffered a massive stroke and his stable of cars are quiet. I want to find this toy and possibly return it to him before he is gone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
