  1. By the way, that scale setup rocks!
  2. Rotus did the same thing... I think they said 1320 lbs or something, but the lightest customer car I've seen is Joe W's car at 1525 lbs. And his car does not have anything unnecessary on it (dedicated autox car).
  3. I always thought superlights were in the 11xx lb range. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/confused5.gif
  4. Also, we should subtract the spare tire, since alot of guys run without them.
  5. We should probably compare cars with all fluids, but empty gas tank, or full gas tank - (tank capacity * 8 lbs), so a car with a big tank does not get penalized. (Note: I *think* gas is 8 lbs/gallon, but I'm not sure) My Rotus was 1670 lbs when I got her after the engine conversion. Since then she has lost some weight (I got rid of the steel gas tank, and some unnecessary engine components). She's about to lose some more weight when I go to cycle fenders. After that, I'll weigh her again. I'm hoping to get into the 15xx range - still pretty heavy.
  6. man, heck of a deal!
  7. It's either a bad ground, or a bad switch connection, or a bad power feed. If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage at the fuse. If you have 12 volts there, it could be your switch. if you can take it out, check the voltage in the back. Generally, you have a constant 12V side (either live all the time, or live when ignition is on), and the other side, which is connected to the lights. Check voltage at the leads to make sure it is properly supplying 12 volts to the load side. If both of those check out, you either have: 1- a bad ground 2- a bad day (all your bulbs burnt out, which is unlikely ) I SERIOUSLY doubt if a relay is used in that circuit, but if there was, it could be a bad relay.
  8. I see quite a bit of them here too. Happy for lotus. At the last autox school I was at, Elises outnumbered all other cars... even more than miatas! I've only looked at them casually, and the only thing I can pick on is that the engine bay does not seem particularly "home mechanic" friendly. I wouldn't mind having one, but there is no more room for toys in our household. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/leaving.gif
  9. Any food place is fine with me.
  10. I was sick all weekend. I called the IRS this morning regarding club matters. I hope the lady didn't think I was using my sexy voice http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/rofl.gif
  11. it's 1:45 from here.
  12. Is your path towards the north east? We're close enough we could get a few NoVA folks and meet for biscuits half way It is a VERY BEAUTIFUL day today. Time to go cut the grass http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/leaving.gif
  13. I was planning to drop by Fastenal on Southlawn. Let me know if you have someone better.
  14. are you taking pics along the way?
  15. interesting... I've never heard that before. Maybe someone can chime in. I just know the regular grade 5 bolts can not be trusted.
  16. yeah, they're huge. Mine was the first Rotus built, so it has some non-standard parts on it. I did get some minor hopping on the way back - in rain. I've had that in my other cars too... not sure if there is a way to completely eliminate it.
  17. But I believe my axle hop issue IS FIXED http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif Finished replacing the rear suspension links last night, and drove to work this morning. No hint of axle hop at all. It'll be nice to put the power down a little more now. New link compared to old link. Comparing notes with other Rotus owners, it appears the links on my car were not standard issue Rotus links, which were larger in diameter, and had smaller bushings. The heim joints don't seem harsh at all (I was expecting a noticeable difference). http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/CIMG1036.JPG Now I have to take them all off, powder coat them, and use grade 8 hardware to put them back together, along with aluminum spacers instead of boat load of flat washers that I used for the test.slngsht2006-09-15 11:04:23
  18. I'm guessing Chris' handle is a shorthand for Caterham. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif
  19. All, so far we've gotten 27 responses out of the 57 that were sent out. I have communicated with 3 of you who experienced problems, and in all 3 cases, it turned out one of the fields was too small, which is taken care of. If you get a chance, please complete the questionnaire. It will really help with the planning of the event. Thanks, Mazda
  20. always a good idea to keep the checkbook FAR away from the keyboard http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif

  22. Until you get an intake backfire http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/cuss.gif http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif
  23. Al's helmet setup is definitely the way to go. It'd be nice to dump the windshield and have a flipup helmet. Not having the windshield gives a completely different feel to the car, but makes wearing a helmet madnatory.
  24. All, If you have registered, you should have received an automated email with further questions. Let me know if you have any trouble completing them.
  25. Russ, glad you can make it. I think at this point Michael D can make it too. Looking forward to meeting you. Whereabouts in Maryland do you live?
