Hello! After a conversation with my friend Josh at Rocky Mountain Caterham, I have decided to drop my aspirational price down to something more realistic. I did base the original asking price on a recent sale but I realize that was an outlier at best. Mike

Yep! although it is possible to spec either model with either transmission at the build. When I decided on a 620 I wanted to get a SADEV but after talking to a couple people who had them I changed my mind. The SADEV is awesome on the track, but if you are not primarily using the car on the track it is a lot to deal with. It is very noisy, it can be difficult to get into reverse, and they seem to be pretty fragile and require a lot of maintenance and repair. Plus they add about $8K to the build if I recall correctly. The 5 speed is Mazda made and a joy to shift.

It's honestly OK, and the price is without doubt the elephant in the room. :-) I don't mind addressing any thoughts or comments.

No offense taken. You believe that the price is exorbitant, and when I purchased the car two years ago I thought exactly the same thing, because the asking price was the same. But, if you build a car to this spec, and add in all of the costs to build and import it, and then add the extras I have included, you will easily be over $100,000. Then, add to the equation the fact that there is a LONG wait to get a new car. Then, there is the known market for 620's in the US. The last 620 sold in the US, similarly equipped except an R model, sold for $122,000. The R model is about $8K more expensive to build than the S model, so I have factored that into my asking price. So I think the asking price is in line with the build, condition, and the current market. Time will tell. It is a very special car.

2021 Caterham 620S in Firecracker Yellow with 3298 miles. Highly optioned, garage-kept, in excellent condition. 5 speed manual transmission. The larger SV Chassis and lowered floors allow for drivers of most sizes. The is the fastest and most powerful street car that Caterham has ever produced. Equipped with a Supercharged Ford Duratec engine producing 310 HP in a package that weighs just over 1300 pounds, the power-to-weight ratio exceeds many supercars. I am the second owner having purchased the car from the importer, Hillbank Motorsports, with 500 miles on the odometer. This car is titled as a 1957 Lotus 7 with a clean Virginia title, and should be able to be titled in any state. Clean CarFax, and no liens. During my ownership I have installed the Caterham cooling update, a new TPS and Lambda sensor, a new battery, and the car has a recent full service including oil, coolant, and spark plugs. Car starts and runs smoothly and powerfully. Includes original Avon tires with moderate wear over 15” rims. Driving a Caterham 620S is like driving no other car. As a continuation of a 1957 Lotus 7, It is the definition of analog driving. With no driver aids such as ABS or traction control, or even power steering or power brakes, it is just the driver and the road. Every drive holds the potential for exploring the limits of both the car and your driving skills, and this car makes you a better driver. The rush of power through the gears and the cornering ability is simply breathtaking. No other car feels more connected to the road. The 620S is great for both open-top backroad cruising and tearing up a track. This car is track ready with a track roll bar and an FIA approved 6 point harness, although it has not been tracked under my ownership. It is also a great conversation starter, and a favorite at Cars and Coffee. And if you enjoy owning a car that is rare and unusual, there are barely a handful of Caterham 620s in North America. Asking price $105,900.00 The car is available for viewing in Harrisonburg VA by appointment, and I am happy to chat with any interested buyers to answer any and all questions. Please note that most of the photos are taken recently, but the ones with the doors off, and the Youtube video are from when I purchased from Hillbank. The condition of the car is substantially the same. Caterham 620S Chassis in Firecracker Yellow with the following options: SV(5) Wide Body Chassis Side Screen Armrests Battery Master Switch Painted "7" Grill Full Weather Kit (used one time) Track-Day Roll Bar Carbon Seats with Padding MOMO Quick Release Steering Wheel (Leather) Lowered Floors Tunnel Top in Carbon Vinyl Carbon Fiber Front Wings Firecracker Yellow with Black Noseband and Bonnet Stripe Full Black Double Stripe Decal Pack Titled as a 1957 Lotus with 3398 Miles. Also includes: Sabelt FIA approved 6 point racing harness in drivers seat, original Caterham 4 point harness included with sale Spare key and demobilizer fob Spare battery cutoff switch Caterham OEM Half hood (never used) Caterham OEM Full indoor or outdoor car cover (used once) Spare oil filters and wiper blades Caterham cooling update installed Easimap PC ECU interface for checking idle voltage and Lambda sensor condition (PC not included)

Would like some advice about selling a Caterham

Thank you! I think Hemmings is a good route also. I'm having it detailed now and photos taken. -

Thanks a bunch for such a detailed hand helpful post! I've sold a car the BAT before and did well with it, but I agree it might be better to advertise here and a few other places and see if that works first. I'm not in any particular hurry to sell, I realize this is a specialized version of a specialist car so it may take a while to find the right buyer. And thanks also for the advice on test drives. I try to put myself in the shoes of both the seller and the buyer, and when I purchased I was allowed to dive it first, but that was from a dealer and not an individual. The stripe is as purchased. I like the color myself, thanks! I've just joined here as a paid member and the car is headed to the detailers tomorrow. Cheers! -
Hello all. I've decided to sell my 2021 620S and considering whether I would be better off waiting until Spring to list it or to go ahead and put it up for sale now. Any thoughts about which would be best strategically? Also, allowing test drives in this car is a little stressful for me. RHD and gobs of power in this cold weather is a recipe for disaster for someone who is a first time Caterham driver. I realize I will need to allow test drives for serious prospects, but for those who have sold Caterhams, how have you handled this? And of course if anyone reading this is in the market, reach out to me. Thanks Mike

New photo blog posted on Spa-Francorchamps track day
Saudio replied to Croc's topic in General Sevens Discussion
enjoyed that very much, thank you!! -
I hear you, it can be dangerous. I only drive it on weekdays. I will say though that I've driven it basically all day for three days and have not personally seen any close calls. FWIW.

I took my 620 to TOTD for the first time last week, although it's my third trip there with three different cars. This time, though, they had completely repaved the entire course (in April) and they did an outstanding job. I had an absolute ball and my arms were pretty tired at the end of the day. There is a whole lot of heavy-duty turning to be done there. I actually like TOTD better than a day at the track, just because of the flexibility and scenery, and it's free! I bought two shots from the photo stations along the route, and I like both except for the driver. In one I'm mouth breathing and in the other one I'm evidently pinching a loaf.

Do you have a half hood for your Caterham?
Saudio replied to Saudio's topic in General Sevens Discussion
That's the one I wish I would have gotten instead of the Caterham one. That clever escape hatch would make it possible for me to actually drive with a roof. -

Thanks, this is a great idea and I might end up with one, but it's too late to order for this trip. -
Do you have a half hood for your Caterham?
Saudio replied to Saudio's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Thanks for this, exactly what I need. My frame is already installed on the car so I guess I'll use it. I'll just need to trailer it before I put the hood on because I can't get in the car with it on. ;-) -
I need to open trailer my car next week and the weather is looking iffy. I have a full and a half hood, neither of which has ever been on the car. Would a half hood and doors keep the interior sort of dry? Or should I go to the trouble of installing the full hood? I presume a Caterham was built for some occasional rain to get in the cockpit.
