  1. I also can take off my steering wheel. These things make my car hard to steal. But I've been wondering, has anybody in history actually attempted to steal a Caterham? Can you imagine trying to look inconspicuous while driving away a stolen Caterham? And, really, how many people can even drive a stick shift these days? Or, for that matter, if you managed to get past the immobilizer and the battery disconnect and the missing steering wheel, could you find the start switch?
  2. PSA. My CF seats in my 620 have zero lumbar support, actual it curves out so it has NEGATIVE lumbar support. I found this on Amazon and it works a treat. Cheap, effective, doesn't look too cheesy. And it stay in place pretty well. I use the seat holes for the shoulder straps to locate the hanging straps for the support. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L2RLBZ1?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

  3. I'm finding the same thing to be true. If I'm close to the RH edge of the road, I MUST be comfortably away from the center line. When the inevitable happens and somebody approaches over the line, it's going to be harder to throw the side of the car I'm sitting in into the weeds, though.
  4. Nope, I'm absorbing and enjoying the advice.
  5. :-). I don't doubt that, the weak point with my car at this point is undoubtedly my clumsy left handed shifting. I miss the 2-3 shift regularly as I must let the spring move the shifter further to the right before I push it into 3rd or it hangs in neutral. Mine is an "S" just for the record. I'll try to come next year, but I travel a lot and I never know when I'll be gone.
  6. Hmmm. The two cars on the outside positions of the front row have the extra nosecone vent. I thought that was only on 620's?
  7. Thanks! From the look of the picture in the OP there were at least two 620's at that event. I really wish the date was different, it's only about a 4.5 hour drive from here.
  8. Would absolutely love to be there, but I am out of the country that week.
  9. My daughter says it looks like an insect.
  10. I think simply racking up some safe miles in the Cat will teach me where the corners are and where I am on the road. I've spent 50 years and well over 4 million miles teaching my brain where the vehicle belongs and now I'm unlearning it, and worse, having to change mental gears every time I switch from RHD to LHD. I've only racked up 200 miles on the Cat so far and every single drive is on the job training.
  11. The first time that's exactly what I said. And I think mentioning "Lotus" has a much greater chance of recognition than "Caterham"/
  12. Just had the Caterham over cooling fix performed on my 620S and now I'm able to really enjoy the car. Before the operating temperature was staying at about 50, which made me very cautious about any high revs. Now it's running great and 30 minutes drives are like hitting the gym. I love it. Still getting used to RHD on tiny US back roads, and gauging my distance from the lunatics coming the other way just a little over the center line. And still trying to figure where exactly to look when changing lanes and backing up. Not being an owl, I can only twist my head so far. But anyway, here's my question: How exactly do you described you Caterham to someone who asks "What is that?" My car is registered as a 1957 Lotus 7, but is isn't that. And, it's not a Lotus 7 Replica, because it's a completely unique build that just looks a bit like a 7. And, it's not really a bespoke, custom automobile, because it evolved from a specific brand and model. So why the heck is it? ;-)
  13. Something in the states that would fit an SV chassis? Needs to be indoor and outdoor. Thanks!
  14. If you have seen this already, well, here is it again. ;-) https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/g4277/the-13-best-cars-under-100000-dollars/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpm&utm_campaign=arb_dda_fb_rt_d_i_g4277&src=arb_dda&fbclid=IwAR360l7X8BKmpjthhtaSggv6SBCa0WWnuYzawFrFamOx30gDKmKzJXjSpsY&slide=12
  15. I'd like that and will plan for it. But I'm in a raging battle with Caterham to deliver parts that are ordered to get my car in California sorted out for delivery. Parts were ordered Feb 22 and promised "in a couple days". Several snafus later, I'm still waiting. Looks like there are some good prospects for mechanics in this thread, I'm exploring all of them.
  16. Thanks! I called the number on the website and it has become spam. So I guess they have shut down. But I appreciate the rely!
  17. Can anyone recommend a shop in my area that has experience working on Caterhams? I realize that basic maintenance and small repairs can be done by any competent mechanic, but I would like to know of a shop I could rely on if anything more serious or complicated comes up. Thanks!
  18. By the way Croc, that list of cars you have, is it current? Looks like quite the menagerie!
  19. Thanks for this. My car is at a Caterham dealer right now and if the Caterham fix is effective it seems the wisest thing would be to have it done before I take delivery. Now I have to count the days until it arrives.
  20. thanks! the first one is one that looked interesting, but the reviews said it was difficult to adjust, which is not a big deal in an aircraft application where a single heading is kept for a long time. The third option looks like it might be a good choice if I can figure out a way to attach it that works and doesn't look awful. What I want is a simple visor that I can raise or lower, just like a normal car.
  21. I agree it would be odd for identical cooling systems to behave so differently from car to car. Croc, the two that you know that had the fix, did they get the PGM fix, or the Caterham fix? I can't seem to get any information on the effectiveness of the Caterham fix.
