My liver is fine, thanks for asking.

How many miles did you drive this year?
Saudio replied to Vovchandr's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I bought mine with 500 miles on it in the spring. I'm a 2300 miles now and we have a small warm snap here in Virginia tomorrow so I have plans to put another 150-200 on it. And I also drive until the first salt hits the road. Then it's time for the winter nap. -
So as not to mislead, I don't see any immediate way to test sit one of these and It's winter here, so it's likely that this swap won't happen for a while if it does happen. I really appreciate you taking the pics though. Do you (or anyone) have any thoughts on the relative value of the seats in a swap situation?
-
They look nice and I'm still interested. I need to figure out a way to sit in one somehow. Thanks for the pics! The four point harness is attached to the car, not the seat, correct? So the seats would swap out and the harness would remain and work the same way? My lap belt goes through a slot in the sides of the seat.
-
I'm pretty sure the seats are different between the S3 and the SV. I seen to recall them being proprietary when I was considering a new build. But thanks anyway!
-
Thanks for the reply! Your car is an SV? What condition are the seats in?
-
I have an SV with the padded carbon fiber race seats and am considering either selling them and purchasing leather seats with headrests or finding someone in the states who might want to swap (possibly with some cash exchange due to the difference in value). I don't find the race seats very comfortable for my backside and I don't race much. The reason I say "considering" is that I have not sat in the leather seats so I would want to chance to try one on for size before swapping.

Front license plate required in Oregon
Saudio replied to Cueball1's topic in General Sevens Discussion
In Virginia, I have been questioned twice (no yet in the Caterham). In both cases I showed my front tag which I kept in the car, and explained that I had ordered a special front plate bracket from Europe and it was on a boat somewhere on the way. Both times I got a friendly warning. That darn bracket is STILL on a boat. Somewhere. ;-) -
Thanks Cueball! Still ruminating about what the best solution is before I drill a hole that I can't undrill. ;-)

Will also allow a Caterham to work as a snow plow.

It is this one and the hardware kit. It has Cobra embossed on it but I can't find another source. https://www.finishlineaccessories.com/search.aspx?searchterm=visor

Just kidding ;-) Thanks again!

Would anyone here know how far the windshield glass extends into the frame around it? Talking 2020 model 620SV. I have found a set of sun visors I like but it would involve drilling into the windshield frame, and I'm trying to figure how much room I have before I hit the edge of the glass. The drilling would be back to front, not top down. Thanks!

2023 USA7s HPDE at NJMP Lightning - CHANGED TO October 14 and 15
Saudio replied to Croc's topic in National Events
Thank you for this. Between needing to add the harness and the cost of track day insurance (which I would feel almost necessary given the cost of my car) I may have to think about this a bit more. I also suspect my helmet is out of spec, it is well over 10 years old. Add that to the fact that I would need to hire someone to cover me for a Sunday event my company is booked for. The stars may not be aligned for this one. -

Hey Tom, thanks for that! I believe I have an open slot or two on my harness hub so maybe I could upgrade what I have. I'm traveling but as soon as I get home I'll look into what I need to do this and maybe sign up. I wonder what I should expect to pay for track day insurance on a 620? Any recommendations for reliable insurers? Thanks again. -

This date makes it theoretically possible for me to go. I wonder what is involved with adding to my 4 point harness to meet regs? Also, is there a novice group? I have some, but limited track experience. Is there a place on track to park tow vehicles and trailers? Or is the normal protocol to leave the trailer at the overnight lodging? -
Back of the Dragon with two Cobras and a Caterham.
Saudio replied to Saudio's topic in General Sevens Discussion
We drove it on a tuesday starting at about 10:00 AM, and we had almost a clear run all day. We were lucky, and admittedly you are less prone to traffic on the Tail. But we found this to be a nice and different drive. More straights, shaper turns, overall a nice experience. -
Had a great time driving with two of my Cobra buddies at a famous stretch of highway in Southwest Virginia called Back of the Dragon. 33 mile stretch of beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain 2 lane highway with 433 turns. The blue Cobra is fire breathing Superformance replica with a giant big block, and the Cream colored car is a Factory Five kit that my friend built from scratch over a 5 year period. It is a masterpiece. My ride is a 620S I've had about 5 months now. Happy to report I was able to hang with the big boys with no problem, although my car sounded pretty anemic beside those beasts . I love my Caterham even though the wheel is on the wrong side.

Thanks for that SlowDude!

Do you have a link for that?

I must say that I am impressed by those who are older and larger than me who can get in with the top on. Maybe I just need to give it the old college try, but I'll need a spotter ;-)
-
I got it out of the trunk yesterday and looked at it, all folded up neat. And I suspect that is exactly what it will look like when I sell the car someday. I'm 6'2", and old, and I seriously don't think I could get into the car with the top on without spraining something or worse. I have considered the possibility of leaving several snaps undone and then having a third party snap me into the cockpit after I have settled in, but I guess that is cheating. Am I alone on this? Any other owners who have never driven with the top on?
