  1. September PM's replied to, can show the car Friday or over the weekend...was out of town for a few days
  2. price drop from 19K to 17.5K
  3. will relay to the seller this evening, thanks...
  4. Thanks much for the tip, sent them an email....
  5. new price is $250 or BO.....
  6. posting this for a mechanic friend, he has a complete 1600 xflow engine pulled from an automatic Cortina years ago and it ran at that time, best offer. The engine is located in Geyserville, CA, about 70 miles north of S.F. contact is jimsautogv at comcast.net
  7. thanks much, that is good to know...think I'll try making some half doors like on Gert's car instead.
  8. thanks to all for the info, sounds like blockers don't work well w/o the side curtains, and I rarely drive with mine. I did find a little info at Blat Chat, a British firm makes a fabric blocker that supposedly works well, will try experimenting with something similar...attached a photo from the supplier http://www.softbitsforsevens.co.uk/page39a.html http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1617659679_wpbbb73507_1b.jpg
  9. I tried making one from plexiglass, first cut it to fit the roll bar, buffeting was not reduced and might actually be slightly worse. Today cut it down to 8" and it is maybe a little better. Has anyone made or bought one that works better? Is mesh maybe better than something solid?
  10. you can test your sensor with an ohmmeter by checking the resistance at room temperature, freezing (ice water)), and boiling. I did this with mine awhile back and found the specs on the web, but did not save he link...FWIW mine tested OK, the trouble was elsewhere....but I had a different problem
  11. no catalytic converter, and vapors could enter the tailpipe from spilled gasoline if it were on EITHER side....if this was something that happened with rear exhaust Sevens (or rear exhaust cars in general) it would probably be common knowledge...but thank you for sharing your concern :7fume:
  12. ummm.....no....not nearly hot enough, the exhaust is cooled down considerably after passing through two mufflers, can touch the tailpipe briefly after a long drive MUCH higher temperatures are required to ignite gasoline, see http://tinyurl.com/6r4aap
  13. thanks very much, it uploaded ok today...also FWIW did not lose any ground clearance as Martin observed, other parts of the car are lower and since the case is insulated I was able to safely mount it close to the body
  14. Elv15 at the Calif. Caterham forum posted a link to a Blatchat thread http://blatchat.com/t.asp?id=145840&pn=1&ps=15&c= that detailed how someone added a second muffler and had good results. I decided to do the same as I wanted my car quieter and also want to autocross it with a local club that has tight noise restrictions. I used a Hushpower resonator and it fits well under the back of the car and should be fairly unobtrusive once I paint it and the plumbing flat black with BBQ paint...actually with the plate and spare installed it is partly hidden already. The noise level is way down, tone is much deeper, and now the intake is actually louder from the drivers seat...but the car still sounds good when I get on it. FWIW the primary muffler is also a Hushpower. Power feels about the same by seat of the pants... Tried to add a photo but it won't take for some reason, upload goes but shows as 0 bytes in the upload directory:banghead: edit:-picture fixed http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/972583829_resonator.jpg
  15. they don't sell the 2'5" HP Pro YET, but will later this year....I was given a 2.5" sample as I said in my original post..:7fume: I have a 2.5" HP 2 I tried first (and paid for)that I would sell cheap if anyone is interested..

    Black primer

I like it, the car looks quite evil, interesting to see it on something other than a hot rod... from what I've read many spray clear over it for a suede effect (and to prevent rust, though that would not be an issue for your car :7rain: )
  17. no kidding!....between his speed and bike handling skills he could be a successful bike racer....or maybe he already is?? anyway, thanks, great video...
  18. I know of one in Northern CA (was for sale a/o a few weeks ago), will forward a link to this thread to the owner...
  19. I tried a Hushpower 2 muffler and liked it but was not crazy about the looks, so I sent Hushpower an email to see if they had any plans to make a 2.5" version of the Pro model (3" is the smallest currently). Turns out they do, should be released towards the end of the year, and much to my surprise they sent me one to try in exchange for some feedback and photos. Anyway....got it on the car and am very happy with it, power is good and the sound level is reasonable if the car is driven conservatively (also at cruise speed). It was too loud for me with a side exit but OK with a rear exit pipe and I also like the looks (BTW, the short section of flex pipe is temporary...) The can does stay reasonably cool as advertised so there is no need for a heat shield. 20. 90% certain, vacation already scheduled plan to do 1st 3 legs and head home from Ft. Bragg need a room for Chico, Lake Almanor, and Weaverville 50% interested in pre tour, do already have the time off so it is a possibility Bill
  21. Route A looks great to me and FWIW if it is chosen I'd be heading south the last day as Ft. Bragg is close to home. Hwy. 20 from Ft. Bragg to Willits is a smooth and windy road, but it has a good bit of traffic and passing can be difficult ( I commuted that route for a year). A good alternative might be Branscomb road (runs from north of Ft. Bragg on 1 to Laytonville on 101), much less traffic and the pavement was good last time I drove it....though that was awhile ago so I'd be willing to check it out in advance if needed. Also, the stretch of 101 from Willits to Laytonville is nothing special anyway, mostly divided 4 lane highway. Ft. Bragg is a good overnight stop, plenty of restaurants, hotels, etc... Found some info on Branscomb rd. at http://www.lateralg.org/roads/northwest/3.htm
  22. there are CAD drawings at http://mcsorley.net/locost/
  23. no, I meant something more like this http://www.tuccycle.org/map.html good point though, some of the roads may be too rough to be any fun in a 7, I've only done the TUC route by bicycle and motorcycle. Labor day week would work perfectly for me, as would 5 days or so... I'm in Sonoma Co, , so I could maybe do some scouting in advance if needed once a route is settled on.
