  1. Didn't see Mr. Orange there... I woke up at 7, got there at about 8. talked to the owner of the Superperformance S1, but that was the only seven in the lot. I'm up in Pasadena now. Gotta pick up mail and feed the cat while my parent's are out of the country. Morgan, where are you located?
  2. I'll be there! assuming I don't sleep through the alarm as well.. heh. hope to see Mr. Orange tomorrow!
  3. so who's going to be there and what are yo ugoing to be bringing? :-) I know there are a few sevens that are supposed to show up, and I wanted to go say hi to all of you. so.... roll call.
  4. I'll definitely shoot you an email prolly tomorrow since I'm about to goto sleep... been a long 12hr workday. as for purchasing a seven... I need to sell my truck first. heh... once I do that, then I can start really looking.
  5. Thanks for the heads up, but their site says that the SV is sold, and also out of my price range. The s2k for sale is tempting and definitely a great price, but I don't think I will have funds available until after I sell my truck. Also, the bike I ride is the type w/ a 1.2l engine under me... :-)
  6. After researching the s2k some more, I am starting to really like it. it's already a 6-sp, drop in a s/c and it'll be ready to go. I like the fact that it's got IRS as well... and from a WRX too, so I'll already be familiar with the geometry and working on it. I've always been biased against honduh's... but I guess I can make an exception for VTEC this time around. hehe. I am a big "spec.-monger" for lack of a better word, and whilst I know all 7's will be fun to drive and fast, I like technical things and am somewhat obsessed with having a solid modern base (ie IRS) even if I'll most likely be fabricating my own parts here and there.
  7. I think I should post here too... :-) 25yrs old long time noobb 7 enthuisiast since the beginning of college Owned an old BMW E30 (with over 300k miles) that I autocrossed Upgraded to a '04 WRX STi that I took rallying the 2nd day I got it... :-) Tracked this car as well. Sold that money pit and got a 07 dodge ram for work, which is now for sale. I started riding in 02, first bike as an 02 zx-6r used for daily commute to school and back and forth from parent's place to my apartment. Upgraded to BMW K1200R which I now use as a daily commuting bike rain or shine. Joined USMC Reserves in summer of '03 (4th LAR BN, Camp Pendleton) been on a combat deployment to northeast Africa in '06. Graduated from UC-Irvine in fall of '05. Finally going to have a garage in Aug so I can finally seriously start looking at getting a 7. What else is there... hmmm
  8. I'll be out of town starting that weekend for two weeks due to annual training since I'm in the USMC reserves, so can't make the track day. oh well. Sure sounds like fun though.
  9. My mom's condo happens to be in Pasadena, and I do visit quite often. I'm going to certainly try to make it to cars and coffee too... although it is quite early. I guess I'll ride my bike there, which means time to give her a wash. heh. Thanks everyone! I think the best part about a hobby/passion is having people to share it with, and so far this has been turning out to be a great start.
  10. riding in a lot of different seven's is going to be a little hard since it's not like I can just mosey on over to a dealership and take a test drive. heh. so.... anyone want to give me a ride sometime? :-D
  11. Ah yes, the cars and coffee meet... quite early on saturdays. I will probably try to show up since I'm VERY close by... (405+sand canyon). I'm learning more and more... I used to think that 7 owners were far and few, but it now seems like there's quite a good amount of them in the area (more than I used to think there were at least), and so far, the amount of info I've gotten here is great. Unfortunately, I won't be able to pick one up until my house purchase is complete, which means no check writing for me until August, unless a smoking great deal scomes along. I have to sell my truck as well. I'm glad this forum is quite active.
  12. I've searched and can't find any info on cars for sale... but I've just recently started going to forums and seems like I might be able to find one used now. :-) westtexass2k, you have a PM.
  13. Okay... well, maybe the suspension requirement was somewhat vague. heh. I guess I am biased towards independent suspension. From what I've experienced in the "normal" car world, independent suspension handles better on not-so-perfect road conditions, but then again, it may be different for a superlight though. As for the engine, I ride a BMW K1200 daily for commuting, so 5-6krpm cruising on the freeway isn't too much of a concern for me. Of course, if I'm building the kit myself, I'd rather work with a lighter drivetrain. The car will be used a lot on normal roads as well as as many track days as my wallet can afford, which means maybe 2-3 a year. If I had a choice, I'd prefer a higher power to weight ratio, and tq can come in the form of a supercharger or a very small turbo. :-)
  14. So I've been admiring 7 replicas for quite some time, and finally, I will have a garage in which to build/work on one. I have a few priorities that must be met, which helped me narrow down the kits available considerably. A good suspension system (pretty much narrows the choice down to Westfields w/ the independent rear suspension) Lightweight economical engine with great (down to s2k or bike-engine such as megabusa) Priced out with all the options I want from Manik puts the kit at about 35-38k all inclusive (kit + engine + wheels) So the questions I have now are: 1. any other alternatives I should be looking at? 2. 4wd variants anywhere? prolly not, but no harm asking... 3. any way to make this thing cost less? I am fine getting a used megabusa, but none found for sale in the states. Thanks!
