  1. Joe Petty, thanks for the reference! Wondering if I can modify a spridget shifter, I only have a dozen or so of those kicking around! I am missing the threaded cup, that may be a little more difficult to make, but maybe with the right piece of steel tube, some creative cut and welding and a friend with lathe?
  2. And of course the shift lever (which I am also missing!) Would be difficult to find! I have been living in the Spridgete world forever, and finally after more years than would care to admit have started clearing out multiple multiples of stuff cause I will never use it, and no one else seems to need the stuff, only to finally dive into the 7 Lotus world to start to learn scarcity! Thank goodness for a support group! You guys have been awesome!
  3. And that bell housing in the above picture was not the pinto, it was one I knew was wrong, just held the transmission, and was close to the right length, and had to drill holes for the transmission.
  4. Thanks for all of the input! Yes this is going in a 7. RM Super 7. With a twin cam from a Europa, and the transmission that I thought was from an Elan, but could have been swapped out for something else at some point. I will count gears at some point, but it will probably be Saturday evening before I can get back to the garage. I did purchase one of the early pinto aluminum bell housings and while it fit the motor, did not fit the transmission. Craig has a steel one for me at a reasonable price, so will see if we can make that deal work out. But I still have some issue to figure out with the shifter, as this does not seem to come back far enough to be comfortable. Will reserve final judgment till I can test fit with the proper bell housing, but I don't imagine it would bring it back any further than the other one did.
  5. The gearbox came from a friend's shop. He is 99.9% certain it came from an Elan, but no guarantee it was original to the Elan. It has been kicking around his shop for probably a decade or more, so there is always the chance that it got mixed up with something else, but doubtful.
  6. Here are a couple of additional pictures of the transmission.
  7. I have a Lotus twincam motor, I know same block as the cross flow, and what I believe is a Lotus Elan transmission (but that is a guess). It has Ford markings and the following numbers 282IE - 7006D. I bought an early pinto bell housing that looked like it may fit, but it doesn't fit the transmission. Anyone have any direction or guidance to find the proper bell housing?
  8. MV8, The kit dates from the mid 1990's, so i would assume the parts used would have been from before that. It appears to have been purchased as a mostly complete kit, but aside from a hand written notebook and a bunch of emails, I don't have much original info. Thanks Mike
  9. Hi, another newby question, this car came to me with the original owner having spent a massive amount of time working on bump steer, and I was not sure if he did anything else to the front end. The person that did that work was 2 or 3 owners ago, and I believe passed away, so not available for inquiries. It also did not have any coil overs fitted. I pulled the front left off, confirmed all joints free, and re assembled, and was surprised at what seemed to be fairly limited droop. The ball joints go into a bind at the bottom of droop. Once I put a straight edge across, it appears droop is about 1.5 inches, just checking to make sure that is sufficient. No issues with upward movement.
  10. Thanks for all of the input. Here is a pic of the chassis attachment points. The friend i bought the twincam from thinks he has some motor mounts for a formula ford I can have. Obviously not a direct fit, but a starting point. Am I correct in believing this style chassis would use the hockey puck style rubber isolator on this mount? If so does anyone know the car that part comes from so I can order a pair?
  11. Hi, I thought I saw someone post the files to have the pieces cut out to make motor mounts for the 711 block. But I am not finding them now. If anyone has them or can point me in that direction I would appreciate it. I have an RM7 which as I understand it is basically a knockoff of a Catherham in the 90's. I purchased it with no drive train, and have acquired a Lotus twincam to install, and am looking for the mounts. Thanks Mike
