And startup! A few things to sort after a quick test run: - Tach not reading - Gas gauge not reading - Windshield wipers worked then stopped - Radiator fan didn’t turn on All in all, a fantastic day! IMG_0859.mov

Resolved! From the other thread - was a disconnected ground under the dash. Back in business!
-
Thank you, both! It was a ground issue. I forgot to reinstall one of the under dash grounds when I installed the windshield wiper motor (my car didn’t come with the windshield originally). Appreciate the wisdom and the photo!

Hey everyone - double posting for more eyes/wisdom (also on my build thread)… Ready to start the car (new Duratec 360R) . Battery is hooked up and ground connections are solid. When turning on the ignition, the starter button will not work unless the headlights are turned on. Turning on the headlights will light up the dash, but also bring the speedometer up to 20mph and create a buzzing sound. Attached is a video of the speedo with the sound. Any guidance? IMG_0838.mov

My oldest (17) enjoys it the most, but they all are having fun. Hardest thing is finding time amidst all their activities to find a good amount of time to work on it! Broadly, it's been a straightforward build, though Rich at Kampena Motors (who I bought from) has been incredibly helpful with all sorts of questions. This forum and a few build blogs have also been invaluable. That said, we'll see what happens when I try to start it up for the first time!

Lots of kid commitments over the last several weeks, but made some big progress this weekend. Engine almost ready to start, interior mostly done. Home stretch now…
-
Just a quick thank you - had to install a heater on my build and it didn’t have the holes drilled. This was super helpful!
-
Yes - they delivered with a forklift and placed them carefully. They had delivered Caterhams before, so recommended that order of crates. It worked out well - the biggest challenge was disposing of the crates after breaking them down.
-
Exhaust fully installed. Almost ready to get the motor started. Planning on tackling the rest of the interior next…

Rear wings on with the help of my son. I really value all the online build blogs - they have been invaluable!

Made some progress today installing the cycle wings and the windshield. The car came with the wind deflector, so installing the full windshield required drilling holes in the skin for thr stanchions and windshield heating wires (measure twice cut once!). Next up is tackling the rear wings…

I may take you up on that, Andy - I’m in Fremont. Great to learn there are others nearby - I’ve never seen a Seven on the roads here. Adam

Thanks! Just caught up on your build - looks fantastic. You can't really install the rear suspension before the roll bar (it bolts in where the rear springs go), but you can install the differential (which is quite a bit of work). And you can definitely install the motor/transmission - that's a bit of work and will keep you busy while you wait for the roll bar.

Hey all, In the process of building my 360R SV. It's been something I'd been thinking about doing for ages, and with my oldest kid entering his senior year in high school, it was now or never! I bought the kit from Rich at Kampena Motors in Sonoma CA (Rich is fantastic, by the way) and started the build this fall. We're about 50% done by my guess (engine in, front and rear suspension done, but lots to do on the exhaust, interior, etc.). I've got the full family involved (3 teenage kids and my wife) to assist with labor. I've learned that the build manual is a decent foundation, but online build blogs have been invaluable (as have frequent texts to Rich). Specifically, I've leaned on these blogs: https://caterham420detailedbuildblog.co.uk (great for pretty much everything) https://www.caterham7diaries.com https://purplemeanie.co.uk Below are some photos from the build. I'm late to joining this community, but looking forward to leveraging it!
