  1. Another +1 for Los Gatos, based on feedback from this forum and others. I’m working my way through it now - have done the brake and lights and CHP inspection. BAR is next, but the DMV systems were down Friday when I went with the CHP paperwork. Best advice: keep a ziplock bag with all your paperwork, as for a 90 day temp registration so you can drive your car while working through it all, and get it insured (I did Hagerty’s). And finally, just be patient.
  2. The Caterham is mostly done - just odds and ends left - so taking advantage of the amazing weather to get some good drives in (including letting my 81 year old dad compare it to his S2000). Also working my way through SB100. Got the CHP VIN verification done. Tried getting my sequence number at the dmv, but there was a state-wide outage. Next time!
  3. I love them - super easy to install and look great. Also like that it’s a community member (and their kid) that are selling them. I’ll probably move them to the vertical mount position after I have my plates.
  4. Brake and light inspection complete. CHP and BAR next…
  5. Working my way through the SB100 process and getting some good miles on the car. Got the car aligned and she drives wonderfully! Now down to the last few small items (anti-submarine belts, snaps for floor mats, remaining interior rivers, etc). Plan to replace all fluids at 500 miles.
  6. They didn’t seem to be seated fully. I still don’t love the connection - I may change it in the future.
  7. SB100 process started! Got a temporary operating permit - now need CHP, BAR, and brake and light checks. Went to the Los Gatos DMV and they were helpful. Hopefully the paperwork is correct… First full tank of gas!
  8. This was the connection at issue (factory wired side)
  9. Got this sorted. Ended up being the Caterham installed connectors (on both sides) that were not fully seated. Improved my multimeter skills! Wish I found it sooner…
  10. Hey all - nearing the end of my 360R build and am trying to sort out an issue with the main beams (high beams). Dipped (low beams) headlights work with the switch. But when I turn on the main beams, either with the dedicated switch or the flash to pass switch, the main beams do NOT come on, though the dashboard indicator does come on. Here is what I’ve tested: - Headlight relay works - Main beam fuse is fine - multi meter shows power at the fuse and at the relay as expected. Somewhere along the line, power is being interrupted to the headlights. Given neither main beam works and neither switch works, I’m guessing a connection somewhere. Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Full build can be found in the build threads…
  11. William is correct with the post and files. I grabbed the STL from there, then uploaded and ordered through Xometry (a contract 3d print company). I had them printed in Nylon 6 CF (carbon fiber), solid infill. It was about $50 shipped. They came out pretty much perfect. I did need to widen the hole for the door post - pretty minor!
  12. Ha! I think I’ll wait a bit and decide if like the solid yellow first… in the interim, installed CaterLEDs for the 3rd brake light and also 3D printed some mirror mounts for the Spa mirrors. I think both look great!
  13. Thank you! No plans to add any stripes yet, though my son is lobbying me to add black stripes to the bonnet…
  14. Almost done and doing more shake down rides! Question for those of you in California - are there specific regulations for placement of the CHSML? I just installed the set from CaterLED - deciding between placing them on the roll bar vertically or placing them up top horizontally. Also - as I prep for SB100, any recommendations on which DMV and inspection locations? I’m in Fremont but happy to drive around the Bay Area if it simplifies thing. I’m assuming you need to tow the car for the CHP inspection?
  15. Update - have sorted out the radiator fan (and cleared the coolant system of air). The tachometer fix mentioned above worked, too! Wipers appear to be a fuse issue - getting new fuses and will see if it blows again. New item to troubleshoot - the headlights work, but the high beams do not - any wisdom on where to start troubleshooting? The fuses seem fine.
  16. And startup! A few things to sort after a quick test run: - Tach not reading - Gas gauge not reading - Windshield wipers worked then stopped - Radiator fan didn’t turn on All in all, a fantastic day! IMG_0859.mov
  17. Tons of progress yesterday! Ground issue sorted, engine started, shake down run completed!
  18. Resolved! From the other thread - was a disconnected ground under the dash. Back in business!
  19. Thank you, both! It was a ground issue. I forgot to reinstall one of the under dash grounds when I installed the windshield wiper motor (my car didn’t come with the windshield originally). Appreciate the wisdom and the photo!
  20. Hey everyone - double posting for more eyes/wisdom (also on my build thread)… Ready to start the car (new Duratec 360R) . Battery is hooked up and ground connections are solid. When turning on the ignition, the starter button will not work unless the headlights are turned on. Turning on the headlights will light up the dash, but also bring the speedometer up to 20mph and create a buzzing sound. Attached is a video of the speedo with the sound. Any guidance? IMG_0838.mov
  21. Ran into my first real issue - looking for some wisdom from the group. ready to start the car. Battery is hooked up and ground connections are solid. 22. My oldest (17) enjoys it the most, but they all are having fun. Hardest thing is finding time amidst all their activities to find a good amount of time to work on it! Broadly, it's been a straightforward build, though Rich at Kampena Motors (who I bought from) has been incredibly helpful with all sorts of questions. This forum and a few build blogs have also been invaluable. That said, we'll see what happens when I try to start it up for the first time!
