WTB: Duratec engine (R400+)

I'm looking for a duratec engine, preferably a 2.3L pushing about 220hp+ to swap into my S3.

Hi,

 

Don't know how well a duratec 2.3 will swap into an S3. There may be interference with steering shaft and front cover. You will need to do a lot of measuring.

 

The zetec is a common swap as it fits without too many modifications. When I installed mine, only the output of the water pump housing had to be modified.

 

Of course, there are motor mounts, headers and other swap related tasks.

I think I see you on CCC forum as well by the same username? I have the SVT Zetec 2L in my S3 now and I'm looking for a little more power while at the same time lose 50lbs or so on the front end. I thought there were a few guys on this board who have the 2.3 in their S3 but I could be mistaken.

 

I wanted to build a 2.3L myself but as of now, I don't have the time so thought it'd be easier to see if anyone wants to get rid of their duratec 2.0 or 2.3. I would source all the other parts such as mounts, headers, ecu, harness, bell housing, alternator, etc from either raceline or sbd across the pond.

It has been on outgoing discussion, but you not lose 50 lbs with the duratec; maybe 10-15 lbs. Better breathing via larger valves and shorter stroke. I think that the factory weight for the zetec was with cast iron maniford.

 

I checked with Raceline a time ago and they weighed 95 Kg ready to install. I weighed mine and it was 215-220 ready to install. Not much difference.
