The Pacific North West Tour is underway... sort of...

I know I'm headed on tour because the top is on the car for transport.

Intercity picked up the car this morning. Driver was going to pick up two McLarens and three Ferraris for Pebble Beach so my little seven will be in good company.

Ed- Please keep us updated with pix and stories from the PNW tour...hopefully the hotels you are staying in have better connectivity than the ones down at the Dragon.-Al

Al,

It is a digitally heavy group... I'm sure there will be lots of pictures :)

Mr Moderator I wish I had put this in the Events section. Can it be moved?

speaking of which...Loren's tire post should also be moved to the "parts for sale" section...

Mazda, where would you like the PNW tour participants to post pictures and commentary as the tour progresses? I'm assuming (and hoping!) some of us will want to post periodically. Less than 3 weeks till the start! :hurray:

Stan-FWIW, the 7-7-7ers posted up pix in the general section since who wouldn't be interested in PNW2007...one consolidated thread for pix and another one (or two) for "memories/reflections".

See here:

The "events" area threads were more for planning.

Also...it's not a bad idea to keep the videos in the video section...

As Al said, we'll make a sticky of it in the general section until a couple of weeks after the event, so everyone gets to enjoy it.

I have a suggestion for all of us who are going....Maybe we should start a new thread every couple of days or even every day. I noticed for 7/7/7 that the thread got awfully long and the browser tried to load a zillion pictures every time I wanted look up the latest addition, taking almost a minute even with DSL. Any opinion, Mazda?

I suspect the video has to wait anyway until we get home for some serious editing. I there a good place to store? If nothing else I have a Gigabyte on my Earthlink account as public web folder but then I have to publish a public password which is a little inconvenient.

Let's see....I guess most have, but for instance the Crater Lake National Park cabins don't even have phone or TV. Hey, but they have a bathroom :)

The best solution around that is to resize the pic before uploading. even on huge threads, there are only 20 posts a page, so you can just jump to the last page.

I am going to resize the pics that have already been uploaded to reduce their size.

BTW, google XP Power Toys and download the image resizer. Great utility.

Gert et al.- For vids, get the passwords and user ID for the club's You Tube account. Or link to whatever provider you prefer. FWIW, I don't mind downloading ones that aren't that big (like Jeff's lapping vids), but when they get Nurburgring size, I prefer to stream.-Al

For future reference, is there an optimum size when uploading a pic? I finally figured out how to specify a size when exporting from my Mac's iPhoto program. Pretty easy once I realized how to do it.

640X480 or 800X600

If a picture is really outstanding, feel free to upload the bigger version, as other people may want to download it.
