soareyes
I broke away from the tour today to start my way home. I did get to do Mattole Road just south of Eureka - just an incredible scenic route. I was there early and I only saw two other vehicles for the whole 40 miles. It would have been perfect if the road surface were a little better in some places. Here's Mattole Road from beginning to end: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/319623425_DSCN2816.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1103671566_DSCN2801.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1713086615_DSCN2803.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1217977858_DSCN2810.jpg A couple of deer who refused to stay put long enough for a good picture: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/329169300_DSCN2817.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1293853026_DSCN2821.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1995351054_DSCN2830.jpg
soareyes
Have fun guys on the rest of the tour! Enjoy the cool air in Ft. Bragg while you can because it was 102 degrees when I pulled into Vacaville this afternoon :ack:

Hudson
Like Stan, I left early and I'm back home in South Carolina.... The last days drive across the valley back to Vacaville was the hottest of the trip. Once you left the coast the temperature soared. It was well over 100F for most of the drive. The car did much better than the driver. After thinking about cross country car transport, I'm going to look into discounts on mass Seven shipping ... I would hope if we could load/unload at one point and fill the truck we could get a discount.... I'll make inquires and report back. Just to rub it in... when Gert started planning he had more than 40 people expressing interest. If you thought about doing this trip and didn't you really missed a great two weeks. Hope to see you on the next one. Ed
Al N.
Guys-THanks so much for keeping us all in the loop. Next year is a little tight for me in terms of having time (think we're going to the Philippines with the fam), but for 2009....who knows? I really think we should think about a centralish location, even if central means Colorado. It would attract folks from the middle of the country and then some die hards from the coasts. Well done Gert and company. I hope to meet you all someday in the future...

johnh
What are these ??? And why ?? As we were unpacking in the hotel parking lot a group of Shriners showed up and after seeing our cars unpacked three of the Fords powered by two stroke engines. They were racing up and down the parking lot sounding like weedeaters! They offered to race for pink slips but no one took them up on it. They were fast enough to be scary sitting so exposed like that... Not sure where they came from or what they cost (or how many cc's). ---john. solder_guy
group of Shriners ... They offered to race for pink slips ... Remember the commercial years ago where the big Harley guys encounter the Shriner clowns on bikes .. and they rally together! Rob
