Can also recommend Mick Beveridge at xtraspecialsevens.co.uk as a great source for other bits for old sevens.

I spoke with British Masters in San Diego a couple weeks ago about a set of early Spitfire wheels 3-1/2” - same as what you’re looking for.  They thought they had them but wanted a firm commitment before they went digging. They were asking $100ea shipped.  I think it was $60/wheel plus shipping.  You might give them a call. Britishmasters.net

If you're going to re-paint in black, this can be a good time to relocate the round rear turn signal lamps to the outside edge of the fenders.  The correct lamps were the winged Lucas L539.  Reproductions are available from NOSLocators https://www.ebay.com/itm/200612002649?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Dce359c9aea434610ba852a8b559a608b%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D200612002649%26itm%3D200612002649%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A7a89a220-fcab-11ec-8e13-be4cca550779|parentrq%3Ad05147b21810a0da5ae43cb5fffa6f1a|iid%3A1 or a number of other vendors.

Are they not in the correct location based on this photo of the car when it was new? I'm trying to learn as much about these cars while repainting it! Thanks!

I'm sorry, that's my error!  You're correct - the photo above is the way it should be, of course.   That photo does show the L539 lamps - you can just make out the wings.

Could I get a bonnet length measurement?  Top center from scuttle to nose.  Apparently there is variation from what Arch manufacturers for the Caterham.

This may be useful to anyone wanting to buy new panels for a Lotus.

I would really like to see the "before" pictures.   don't worry,  nobody will criticize the condition.   Many cars start as rescues.  Mine for example.  Its not a rescue yet, but I'm working on it,  lol.

Bonnet length is 38” exactly measured at the center.

Congratulations AZFast1, this looks like a very nice project!

According to numbers I have seen, there were around 1300 7-S2 cars produced and in spite of the age and low numbers, most parts are available if you don't mind spending some time searching the Internet.  This is mainly due to Lotus design, where they were masters of "Outsourcing".

I would suggest Doug Fraser's Internet log "The Saga of LSB 2072" as a good read tracking a very well documented rebuild.

As for the bonnet, get all the measurements you can; both edges, and the front and back "hoops".  Lotus and Caterham have made slight adjustments to body and chassis specs over the years and finding parts that fit correctly can be a challenge.  Of course these cars were not that tight to begin with and then they got twanged racing...

One fellow built his own bonnet using a telephone pole to form the sides, I used a 3" exhaust pipe to form my air scoop, so lots of room for creativity!

Good Luck!  Joe

Sorry, no help.  Had 2 old steel wheels from my street S7 of 50 years ago, but they are 5".

Ha - I thought that was Judy! I'm also happy to see the car is going back to 'her' colors. And yes, the 3.5 Herald wheels are correct, 155 series tires fit just fine. There are many more options now than there were 10 years ago when I found Kumho tires to fit mine. Many also go with the slightly later Triumph wheels which are 4.5 inches wide, but the slots between the center and the wheel rim are much narrower on the 4.5's.

Hi John,

Do you run inner tubes with your Kumho 155 80 13 tires?  I've heard some guys say they do and others who do not.

I'm sorry azfast1 - it's not my intent to take this far off topic.

No tubes! Those are for wire wheels only as far as I'm concerned! I run about 20lbs pressure in front and 22 rear. To be honest, when the pressures get low it doesn't look any different!
