automayt
SOLD This is a road legal "book frame" Locost with a mildly built 5.0L engine from a foxbody Mustang donor. The car design is based on the McSorely book frame. I started building this in 2009 to mainly be a competition autocross car and completed it to its current state in 2019. It was built completely from the ground up (no kit). The fenders, dash, and front nose were ordered from places online, but everything else was made from scratch. The air filter was replaced with a larger one recently, but other than that the pictures are up to date. Selling due to existential crisis. The car was originally posted on Facebook but someone messaged me and said I should definitely post it here. Cons: The rear fenders have slight road rash, and the rear panel has a light mark across part of it if the light hits it wrong. Newly Rebuilt 306 with Holley 76650 650CFM carb (roughly 750 miles on the engine since rebuild, but more as I drive it) Edelbrock Performer intake AFR 165 Aluminum Heads Ford Racing E-Cam Comp Cams 1.7 Roller Rockers MSD distributor, coil, and ignition Astro A5 transmission with .59 5th gear "Bulletproof" bellhousing 8.8 IRS rear suspension LSD MonsterMiata axles Lotus Elise seats Lightweight Flywheel Wilwood pedals Wheels are XXR 002 15x9 0 offset All panels (and cage) are removable. The mustang engine donor was bought in Jan 2012 (I don't remember what the year of the donor was). The car is registered as a "Lotus 1957 Seven Dune Buggy" and as such is likely to not require smog if you have a state that exempts "classic cars". Let me know if you need additional information. I have all of the receipts for the build in the event that you need them for making it road legal in your state. $20,000 Edited May 11, 2023 by automayt Added location and flywheel detail. Remarked that it is sold
Vovchandr
I have nothing to add other than I was excited to see this build when I saw it posted on reddit quite some time ago. It got a lot of praise back then!
vipergeek
There's another car on YT that was built in New York that appears to be a clone of this car; seats, engine, wheels, steering gear, red topped distributor etc. Is this the same car or are they different? Here's the correct link: Edited March 27, 2023 by vipergeek
automayt
Same car, though I'm not sure where the "New York" part comes from. That video was in Frankfort, Ky. There are a few additional videos on there as well.
