slngsht
All, forum software was upgraded last night. For most part, everything went pretty smooth. I did notice a minor problem with staying logged in this morning, but I think that has been resolved. There were also a few broken images here and there. I have fixed everything I found - If you find anything amiss, let me know. The new version of the software has a few upgrades, and allows us to stay current with future enhancements. One of the new features is that now you can hover over the topic listing, and see the first few lines of the first post. Another is a RSS syndication feed, which can integrate new posts into your google home page and other news feeds - I haven't turned this on yet. Also note that the top nav of the page has a "Home" link and a "Links" link. That's it - As I find new features, or make enhancements, I'll post it up here. EDIT: Found and fixed problem with email notifications Also, updated the links page with many links sent in by MR2Dux - Thanks Mark!slngsht2006-08-06 10:04:
Al N.
Mazda- This is AMAZING! Really. It's almost Mac-like in its feel (yes, PC users, that was an low blow on my behalf) A few minor things pop out at me...on the previous version, it was great to be able to see the names of the states in each region as you define them. That would be great to restore. Also, should we move 7-7-7 out of Southeast and into the National Event category? (As it's fast becoming!!!) Great job, and a real asset to our community. -Al
slngsht
Al, that feature was in the new one too, but it was causing the formatting to wrap, and taking alot of vertical space... instead I modified the code so if you hover over the section, it will list the states. I agree, the 7-7-7 should be a national event... I'll move it.
slngsht
All, I've been busy the last few days... First, big thanks to Al for a new banner graphic. As part of incorporating the banner graphic, I had to redo the entire navigation scheme of the site. There is now a new nav bar on top, with the following features: Forums link - gives access to the listing of forum sections, or alternatively, provides a drop down for directly navigating to a particular forum. Search: Allows you to search directly from any page you are on, or "go advanced" for more search options. "Links" gives access to the links page "Other" gives access to misc items such as your settings, calendar, member list, etc. Next round of changes will focus on the home page design. I only have access to IE 6 and FireFox on Windows... I did briefly get a chance to look at this on a Mac, and things seemed OK. The only odd thing I have noticed so far is that when a page loads, you briefly see the menus on the left side before they disappear. Please let me know if you encounter problems, and I will address them as fast as I can. Thanks
slngsht
Thanks for Chet over at locostusa.com, I found out the registration page was not working http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/ack2.gif That problem is fixed now, but the fix was a little complicated. If you notice any performance problems with the forum, please let me know ASAP.
