IamScotticus Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 anyone have thier compression ratios and psi averages from a Caterham Sprunt spec 1600 Crossflow?
MV8 Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 What are the specs for that engine (cam lsa, intake duration, compression ratio)? I'd guess 120-160 psi within 10% or each other for a good, well used engine. For a given duration and lift, a smaller lsa equals earlier intake valve closure for numerically lower idle vacuum and higher cranking comp. 1
IamScotticus Posted December 9, 2023 Author Posted December 9, 2023 Hoping to get numbers from someone's car.
Mudder Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 My stock 1700 Super Sprint (6500 miles) 9.75:1 compression, cold comp test 151 psi on all 4 cylinders. Your 1600 should be 9.00:1 (stock) and your cold comps probably around 140 psi. Hope this helps. 1
Mudder Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I forgot to mention that the comps were taken at an elevation of 8000ft and a local air pressure of around 22.00 merc. column.
IamScotticus Posted December 31, 2023 Author Posted December 31, 2023 Thanks, Im getting a distributor dialed in by a dizzy tuner and I really need #s for my same build and displacement. I might just need to wait until after my rebuild with new ring pack, etc.
