slowdude
Throwing this to the ether. Figured out my incessant rattling noise. Pivot at the bottom of the clutch fork is supposed to have a bushing. Didn't know that when I did the clutch. Any ideas how I could get some sort of bushing in there (or other type of insulating material on the pivot) without taking the engine back out. Alternative is to continue wearing earplugs, but for my 150 mile + trips, it does drive me a little mad.
MV8
If there is no spring to pull or push the fork toward the trans to create a gap when the pedal is not being pressed and the bearing is correct for the transmission, then I would adjust the cable for zero slack.
slowdude
Thank you sir. As always the genie we ask. I'll back the cable off completely. I saw in an earlier thread that hand tight and then backed off was reccomendation.
MV8
I believe the slack was a general recommendation from Tony Weale for older cats. Also, a bushing on the "ball stud"/pivot end of the fork seems odd to me. Just make sure not to preload/too tight and adjust as the clutch wears and the pedal clutch release point moves.
