So last Saturday, I'm just back from my breakfast blat (30 degrees - see other post), and my old mate calls from the UK - he's just back from a drive with a few mates. See photo. I would have gone just for the ride. My mate said the Aston's were very nice but a bit 'soft'. The 911 is in historic rally spec and is 'quite quick' according to Pete. His car is second from the left BTW.

Steve, is that a 250, a 275, or a 330? Looks like a LM style rear to me.

It's a 1964 250 GTO. It's also a replica. (Pete owned an original 250 SWB for 35 years - very similar to the one 2nd from the right.)

BUT, and it's a big but, it's a 100% accurate replica with FIA papers and all, one of only three. Here are the details;

The GTO has a 250 GT chassis number but the bit of the chassis with the number stamped on it and the engine block are the only parts of the "doner" car that were actually used. The head, pistons, crank, dry sump etc are all pure GTO...approx 300 bhp at flywheel. Gearbox, back axle suspension and everything else is all either original parts or specially made. And the body was made by Pete Roeloffs' panel beater

Apparently, it's very loud :D

Steve.

I think Nick Mason of Pink Floyd fame has one like this in addition to his real GTO...for trackdays. Very cool.
