breezy7 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Has anyone come up with a way of covering the hole where the clutch line and bleeder line go through the bellhousing? I have tried a few things but not satisfied with the results. I seem to always be leaking some fluid out of the thermostat housing and would like to keep the fluid and assorted other junk out of the clutch.
Al N. Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Yes...I had a similar concern when I got my car (Zetec with Cat 6 speed). Though the guys at Cat-USA were very laissez-faire about the likelihood of anything bad falling in, I had my shop work up a solution. I don't exactly know how they did it, but you can see the little metal flap in the right hand side of the attached photo. It's metal, but there is some rubber there...maybe a plug that secures the flap to the hole? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1798393164_Bellhousing Plug.jpg
breezy7 Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 Thanks for the picture Al. If you get a chance would you take a look at the last post I made on the Zetec thermostat housing?
pierats Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Initially, I used some aluminum tape (used for sealing ductwork). This worked fine and was nice and light. I ended up replacing it with a piece of aluminum that a machinist friend made for me. I've seen other cars with a simple piece of stainless steel screen over the hole (just to prevent debris from falling into the bellhousing.
