solder_guy Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 WTH is going on down there with the weather? Just what I know from watching the TV and tuning into NOAA radio. Three BIG thunderstorms went through in the last 20 hours spawning at least 3-4 tornados and alot of hail. A tornado went through part of downtown Atlanta last night. There's a hole in the Georgia Dome. Georgia World Congress Center (convention center) has alot of damage. CNN center also. Centenial Olympic Park has some toppled towers. Alot of glass windows are blown out of several towers. People are being advised not to go to that part of town. But the Georgia Aquarium is spared. This is 1/2 mile south of GaTech .. so eVox and his locost build are not affected. I hear that S. Carolina is hit hard too. Rob
eVox Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 It was stormin thats for sure. Last night was crazy- I've heard stories from friends of destroyed stop lights and hydroplaning on the road from the water. Woke up today (at um...4pm) to water pouring from the sky and marble sized hail. The locost frame is probably a little soggy under the tarp, but I'll deal with the rust tomorrow... The wind was pretty intense. But, as Rob said, it all missed Gatech, and I wasn't crazy enough to want to venture out of our pro-tech-tive (sorry for that!) bubble. Its my spring break...cant wait for nice weather to work on the car!!:yesnod:
Kitcat Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Last I heard, my son's AirTran stop-over thru Atlanta airport yesterday was delayed til 2:30am today:(.
