Sorry i cant find the past thread on this:

(also posted to the birkin yahoo group):

Does anyone know the length-size-type ends of throttle cable used on the Birkin?

mine has the webers.

The cable seems to be sticking sometimes and i dont want to get caught with an open throttle at the wrong time.. i dont have the cable off yet but need to replace it.

i know someone (dave i believe) had suggested a bicycle shop has high quality cables but not sure what the best replacement size-type might be?

thanks...

Southwind25,

I use a cable that was purchased from a bicycle shop. I just went in and purchased a replacement cable for a front brake and then shortened the outer housing to the size I needed and hook it all up and it works great and is easy to replace if needed.

Here is a photo of the cable and its routing. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/762784310_DSCN1442.JPG

Hey Southwind, go to a good bicycle shop, ask for a high quality mountian bike brake cable, get the housing for it also, and the ends. They make some mountian brake cables with a teflon coating on the cable, it will make it slide smoother, ask the guy at the bike shop and give him an idea of what you are doing. You should have it working in nooo time......remember , noo tight bends it will make the cable kink and you will not get the desired smooth throttle you want.......good luck
