want2race
Hey gents, I just got my Ultrashield seat today and I was eager to get it mounted. I started looking and it looks like there are a fortune of options out there. Anyone got any pictures of how they mounted their seat? Basically If i mount it straight to the floor I dont think ill be able to adjust the crotch belts. Anyone??
MHKflyer52
Hey gents, I just got my Ultrashield seat today and I was eager to get it mounted. I started looking and it looks like there are a fortune of options out there. Anyone got any pictures of how they mounted their seat? Basically If i mount it straight to the floor I dont think ill be able to adjust the crotch belts. Anyone?? The last four photos in this album show of how I mounted my seats. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/ALotus7ReplicaLocost The drivers seat is mounted on slides from Speedway Motors and the passanger seat is fixed mounted. Hope this helps.
slngsht
My tunnel sides are 16 gauge steel. I also have a 4" wide 16 gauge steel plate on the inside edge of the outside tube near the front of the seat. The seat is mounted in the front through its sides using two nuts welded to those steel plates (actually 4 nuts - 2 each for a back position (tall people) and a front position). The back of the seat sits on a frame member - I still have to find a rubber insulator for it. My sit pivots with this setup, which is great for cleaning rocks. Basically it goes from its resting position to over the steering wheel... If I feel the need, I can make the height of the back rest point adjustable to adjust the seat angle. gjslutz
On my Birkin, I mounted my ultrashield to the floor and the shoulder harness bolts. There is a flat .090 aluminum plate bolted to the upper back area with one small bolt. It is like a spreader that bolts under the shoulder harness bolts. In the front I used another .090 plate I bent to fit the stock seat track mount holes. It lowered my seat as well as leaned it back some. I also cut the rear corners from the seat to let the seat fit further back. The rear stock seat track mount points was in the the way. I just set the crotch belt at one length for me. I made the car fit me only.
JohnK
If you have a welder available, search "General Sevens Discussion", "WCM ultralite seat mounting (ultrashield)", JohnK. Incorporated shock mounting (rubber donuts) and a relatively simple design.
