11Budlite
Looks good Gary. I think if I have to put my front plate on, that's the way I'll do it. I see you've changed you're paint scheme so it's very similar to another Birkin owner from Ohio! Bruce :7drive:
gjslutz
Bruce It must be him that all my neighbors complain about driving too fast! I have plans of BRG on the rest of it. Gary
Stokked
Gary - What air cleaner do you have? Is it a pain to get the engine cover on/off? I have an ITG filter on my Birkin, but it's much bigger, and it is a PAIN to get the engine cover on and off. I'm always afraid I'm going to scratch something or bend the engine cover. Thanks, Delayne
gjslutz
Delayne Mine is also ITG. It isn't too bad if you lift the other side first a little. I then lift it up from the center leaning over the right side of the cover. Gary
Stokked
Thanks Gary. From the picture your's looks somewhat rounded (like an egg), whereas mine is square if you looked at it from directly from the front of the car. I think yours must be a different model than mine. I'd like to find something that isn't as much of a struggle to deal with as the one I have. You don't happen to have model number for your ITG do you? -Delayne
11Budlite
Delayne - Can't help you with the model number, but it looks like Gary might have the Raceair model where you probably have the Megaflow model. 11Budlite
If you download the 2008 catalog from that site it has a lot more info. It looks like the JC50 model might work and that's available in the flat-top or domed (sausage) model. The domed model could be the one that Gary has. gjslutz
My filter is listed as INDUCTION TECHNOLOGH GROUP JC 40. I have 45MM TBI's Gary
11Budlite
Thanks Gary. I measured my dual 4.5" x 7" K&N's and it looks like the JC40 model is the closest in overall size to them. I'll have to open up the cutout in the hood a little bit to get the ITG to fit if I decide to switch over. "I have plans of BRG on the rest of it." - Getting tired of polishing aluminum are we? Stokked
Thank you both for the info. I think that the domed shaped version might be a better solution. The standard flat-top is what I've got. I'll have to check out the model number of mine, do some measuring and then maybe order a replacement. -Delayne
gjslutz
Bruce, yes on the polishing. I also have some scars from where the fender braces hit. I'm running Folis's short steering arms. I need to go to wide track on the front end before I paint though. I have the engine out for a rear main leak at this time. Gary
