( I posted this on Locost North America and Locost USA but have not found an alternator as of yet.)

If anyone were to tell me I couldn't fine an alternator for my 1.8

Zetec with a Westfield mount I would tell them they were crazy. Well

after looking on and off for the past 6 months I give up. I can find

one in Europe but the ridiculous prices plus $100 freight burns me

up.

Does anyone know where I can find a Lucas LRB00172 alternator or one of the

cross referenced ones below?

I don't want to fabricate another mount since I already have a $200

Westfield one. This is a brand new car and I want a new alternator that will

fit the mount and plug into the wiring harness without any cobbling up of the

wiring or the mount.

Thanks to all for any help.

Mallard: Welcome to the usa7s forum, I see this is your first post.

Sorry I can't help with the alternator which you need, but this is a good place to follow up if the locost forum hasn't delivered results.

I believe that the Bosch units are the same ones that came in Ford Escorts and Fiestas

Carsport that is Harry. He had the unfinished Westy at the car show Labor Day weekend. He's a good friend who is pulling out what little hair he has over this darn alternator problem. Russ

Thanks 1-t

The 1st 2 Bosch units were superseded by the 3rd one and that alternator has never been imported to the US according to Bosch USA.

carsport,

I live in Leawood KS 66206. You’re welcome to come by anytime. I will send you an image of the Westfield mount. It has rubber bushings that go into the large holes and it uses a Ford adjustable arm for tensioning the belt. Let me know if you have any other ideas on how to find a unit that will fit.
