Re Westfield,

Yeah I read that too, sounds like a bit more than new oil in the box is needed, then the carb pro-tune?Odd thing is why would a car dealer have a clothes retailer sell a car for him and why not have those "minor" faults fixed before selling, particularly if you are in the trade.

  • 3 weeks later...

I contacted the guy about the Westfield.

Or at least tried to.

I asked if my friend who lives in Portland could take a test drive - his answer - for a $500 dollar deposit. That seems weird, she won't run off in it - but if it busts while she is driving it he makes $500....

I tracked down Krobar Clothing, sent an email about the Westfield asking some questions - the email came back asking for my phone number but not answering any questions.

My friend called the dealership / the ex owner of the dealership owns the car - they are out of business.

but but but I may really lowball him. If you got it wicked cheap it would still be a bargain for like 8/ten thou.... put in a new Zetec and tranny and you're styling.. I like those Westfield bodies - plus it has side curtains and a top etc......

Yes, I think it's fishy too,if you look at the first time it was listed and "sold", the buyer said the seller would not show the title and the deal fell thru, with bad feedback posted.

I asked the Krobar guy for info and he said I was a "suspicious buyer" and would not talk to me...lol.

Yeah if it does not sell keep raising the price?

" the minor grinding tween 2nd and 3rd gears may need an oil change" is now missing; I would have thought he would have got the "Pro-Carb-Tune" done at the same time.

I think Krobar is a Dipstick Jimmy.

Update. The seller is now claiming this car is sold. Wondering if anyone on here bought it. This car was relisted 3-4 times, the last two being BIN or OBO 'auctions'. $19.9k, then dropping to $17.5k. I made some low ball offers both times and was auto declined.

On Sunday afternoon, I got a message from the seller via eBay asking if I was still interested in the car. I replied yes and gave them my phone number to call. Ended up talking with the girl who I think was in the photos in the last auction. Interesting...

Anyway, I reiterated my highest lowball offer and for awhile it seemed she was resigned to possibly taking it but had to check with the owner of the car if that would work for him. Krobargear was just listing it for a family friend according to her. I told her she might want to update the ad so it didn't say "Seight" and gave her some insight about what the vehicle was she was selling. She seemed to be very put off by the hassle of dealing with people that were interested in the car. I told her that selling a Westfield is not like selling a Camry.

That was on Monday afternoon of this week. My dad emailed me this AM asking if the car had been sold as the eBay auction was taken down. I checked Craigslist in Portland as it was advertised their as well. Also gone. So, I called the woman rep'ing the car and got her on the phone.

She claims the car is now sold, and at "asking price," which I find hard to believe based on what I saw on eBay and her air of desperation when we first spoke on the phone. Apparently not a local sale.

I would give it a month and it will be back up on ebay with an asking price of $25k.

It sounds like their strategy is to try and sell it to a "dumb" buyer who will not ask too many questions....
