slngsht
So, looking at my very messy dash wiring, I'm wondering if I can really clean it up if I mount all the switches, relays and fuses on a printed circuit board. Anyone gone this route? I've seen the guts of a few sevens, and it ain't pretty behind the dash.
slomove
That would be kind of cool. But the variety of switch and instrument connectors don't really lend themselves to mounting on a PCB. With short pigtails I think it can be done but the layout work would be tricky and the manufacturing not cheap (given the size). Future modifications would be another problem. But I think it is not really necessary. With a little attention it can be made pretty clean and maintenance friendly. This may preclude using the stock wiring loom, though...... The wiring as shown below was made using a Painless harness with mods. Edited March 13, 2009 by slomove

slngsht
well, a little searching turned up some interesting stuff. looks like alot of drag car stuff out there. Here is one: http://www.krperformance.com/wiringkits.cfm and another: http://www.biondoracing.com/images/shopping/DDI-1049-MP-B.jpg I like the LED indicator on the fuse/relay legs for diagnostics. bsimon
Mazda, Here's an idea. http://www.colehersee.com/04resource_Productinfo/infoX_Bus00.htm These gadgets are similar to the high end power distribution modules used in real race cars. Still pricey, but 1/3 the cost of the offerings from Motec, Kronenberg, and Stack. I'm not sure what data buss protocol the Cole Hersee units use. The 'spensive PDMs use a CAN buss. Bob, that looks nice, but I don't see a price list for it.
