I always knew they were 10 times better than anything else out there, and after 24 hours of having one, I think I underestimated how good they are. Simply an amazing device.

 

I waited around for Verizon to do something with Apple, but finally got tired of it. Glad I made the switch so far.

Best phone I've ever had (3G). I do think the new 3.0 operating system strains the capabilities of the 3G phone-my more graphically intense applications don't run as well on 3.0, even after the programmer has modified them.

if iTouch had everything iPhone had except the service, then it'd be a winner. but lack of GPS kinda kills it.

I still agree (see my notes of last November).

 

But the initial app collection madness has cooled down a lot. From the 50+ apps that I installed over the first few weeks (all utilities, I am not a fan of games) I am using regularly maybe 5 and another 5 infrequently. It took our IT guys a few months to finally synchronize with our company Outlook server but since that is working it makes the iPhone worthwhile in itself.

 

After all, I find it one of the really useful gadgets and a decent phone. I would not want to give it up.

so far, I have it hooked up to google calendar, yahoo mail, and exchange server at work, and sync'ed it with google contacts. I bought 2 phones, and must be missing something because the sync with google contacts didn't quite differentiate between the two phones as I would have thought. Other than that, simply flawless. VPN connection to our work network worked perfectly the first time too. Again - amazing.

Hate mine, 100% hate mine. Slow, locks up, drops signal (not calls, just signal) and eats a battery in about 20 minutes when looking for that signal. Apple has been no help. I probally won't make it through the contact before I go back to a Treo.

Yeah, if coverage is an issue, then it's a no-go. as far as I know, all cell phones consume alot of power when looking for a signal. My regular old LG flip phone which could run 4 days on a charge, would drain in less than a day if I had it on in areas with no coverage.

You have to know going in that all 'smart phones' have to be charged once a day. Once you understand that, it becomes less of an issue

 

AT&T, Verizon and (perhaps) T-Mobile have good coverage over the majority of the country. That shouldn't be an issue anymore. The real problem is the data downloading and uploading. Your radio is on for MUCH longer than with just voice!

I have been dying to get an I Phone. My contract is up in Sept with Alltell I hope to take the plunge then. I hope that the issues with the first few models have been resolved. My only concern is how rugged it is. I can be a little hard on phones.

If you get an iPhone purchase the phone case called "OTTER". Absolutely amazing. Be sure to take out the white material (felt?) inside the case in all 3 spots. Otherwise you will not be able to hear the other caller and they probably won't be able to hear you. The 3 pieces are filters to keep sand out of the phone. I can tell you this, if I go to the beach my damn phone ain't coming with me. I took the 3 pieces out and I can hear and speak clearly. $50 case with the paddle holster from AT&T. It's a 2-piece plastic case that snaps over the phone and a rubber sleeve goes around the entire case. I highly recommend putting a clear film over the iPhone before you put the OTTER case on as the clear protector on the OTTER doesn't fit snugly and it makes the screen hard to see. A few dollars for a clear protector and it's perfect! Local AT&T store took an OTTER cased iPhone and dropped it from the 2nd story mall balcony. Then I placed a call on that phone to mine. SOLD!
