This Thing over Louisiana

This Thing over Louisiana is spewing storms all over the Southeast ... No Seven driving for several days now and maybe for another week to come!

Winter is not a good time to enjoy your Seven in Montana but fall on the other hand is just right. This fall is even better than usual. Come on by and we'll go rip some back roads.

No rain in Louisiana the last few days. Sometimes it's best to not trust the weather people. The only job in the world you can be wrong every single day of your career and still keep your job. No offense to any meteorologists here or nothin'.

Rob -don't know about yoru part of town, but here on the banks of P'Tree Creek, it would be time to for you to get the pontoons bolted onto the Rotus.

I live some distance from the south fork of the little Peachtree Creek (near Emory). The flood waters have not hit us .. but the basement has been flooded two times this week .. Nothing what others have experienced ..

 

Did you see the video of the house on fire that was burning down to the water level and nearby was a fire truck which was almost totally submurged?

 

Too bad that so many never expected a flood and thus do not have flood insurance

Wouldn't be surprised if that guy didn't have flood insurance but had fire insurance... sad to say, but he'll likely be better off

I'm on high ground near Ptree + Lindbergh (where the Yankee anecedents camped for a couple days ). No problems here. Sorry to hear about your basement. Lot of tragedy around, with folks who would never have expected it to flood there + that much.

Wow, I had no idea some much bad stuff was happening there when I posted my weather forecast. Sorry about that - it comes off as flip and non-caring. I just didn't know about the flooding.

Dave - no, it didn't come off that way - I didn't misunderstand you at all. The s*** hadn't really hit the fan when you posted, but it was sure as heck coming.

My basement is finally dry with a dehumidifier running around the clock and fans aimed at critical saturated rug areas. We were lucky as we already owned a small wet vac and borrowed a large wet vac too.

 

My friend was telling me of people going to Home Depot and discovering that they were all sold out of both of the above and instead leaving with a mop or a squigee. Monday my local ACE hardware had placed special orders of shop vac and dehumidifiers.

 

No fun coming home from work and hitting the basement time and again to address all the water ..

Rob - feel stupid right about now - didn't even think of what you needed to recover. As lame as it sounds.....We have a dehumidifier that we have not used in a few years, and don't need. You are welcome to have it - if you don't need it, maybe a neighbor? N/C, plus I will be happy to deliver.

Our dehumidifier has been running 24/7 and there is still water in the basement .. I have had the house opened up for two days now .. with the low humidify outside and sunshine for three days now .. supposed to get some more rainstorms tomorrow ..

 

Today I got the Rotus up and running around town .. first time in two weeks! I was driving to my favorite junkyard to get some parts and could not get there my usual way because a bridge was washed out! So I had to drive a circuitous route to get there ..

 

I might take you up on your offer for the spare dehumidifier ..
