scannon Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 FYI. Tuesday evening on the Denver channel 4 news they had a segment on the effect of Vitamin D in preventing the H1N1 flu. A study of 18,000 people found that the majority (60% IIRC) of those affected by the flu were deficient in Vitamin D, particularly in those hardest hit by the flu. During the winter when we don't get much sun and what we get is too weak to produce Vitamin D naturally, most people become deficient in their Vitamin D levels. Taking extra D helps build up that level which is important in the body's fight against infections of all kinds. The doctor interviewed stated that most doctors and health care professionals are aware of the study and are taking extra D. He would not recommend a daily dosage but a picture was shown of a bottle with 2,000 IU of Vitamin D on the label. Just passing this along for your perusal. I have no financial interest in any company producing Vitamin D.
