Houston newbie here

Just wanting to say hi and introduce myself.

I have been in Houston 11 years and have been tracking for about the last couple, now wanting to pursue an old desire of owning a se7en. I am on the look out for a car, nice if it was local, so anyone knowing of a car on the market or one that might be on the market in the near future, I'd appreciate a shout!

Cheers,

Adam

Hi Adam,

You just missed the buy of the year on E-Bay. Oh Well, Go see Dick Brink, your local Brikin Dealer. Good luck

If you mean the Birkin, I went and saw it today, yes it was sold just before I got there!

That is the kind of car I am looking for, or something slightly more powerful.

I am trying to post a WTB on the For Sale/Wanted section but looks like I am being restricted there at the moment...

Yes, no doubt I'll be in touch with Texas Motor Works soon...

Hoping the weather is good for Saturday and my sons soccer tournament doesn't have a super early game. I saw three 7's there last meet but didn't have time to stop and enquire, I also saw a lime green 7 the other day on the I-10 feeder that is hard to miss!

Those Ultralites look great, S2000 drivetrain is very dependable, nice match up.

Gentlemen - I am in Houston also, watching for several months as I have plans on obtaining a seven rocket of my own. It's good to see several owners in the area to swat information. I am several months away from being financially ready for a serious purchase but wanted to introduce myself as an extra set of hands should anyone need help with a project.

I am looking forward to meeting all in the area soon.

Thanks

Todd

The three Seven you saw at the last meet were Ken and me. The lime green Caterham is my wife's car. I have a silver Caterham with yellow nose.

Come to the Lotus Owners of South Texas (LOST) monthly meeting on the second Saturday 10 am every month at the Lotus dealer Star Motors on Old Katy Road. We are having a track day at Grandsport Speedway in Hitchcock on March 13. Ken and I will be there with our Caterham. There is no charge for spectators.

Paul, maybe I should sign up for that track day, I tangle nicely with the Elise/Exiges at TWS, but I am sure at the shorter tracks you guys would just trounce me.. (I am in a 3400 pounder - or thereabouts, but with a tad more horsepower).

Well, I'll certainly make an effort to meet you guys at one of those events.

Cheers,

Adam

I was hoping my sons soccer games would be more sympathetic with making it to the Cars and Coffee on Saturday, but the schedule just came in, first game 9:00am.. So I'll be missing this one unfortunately and the opportunity to meet some of you guys there...

But it does look like I'll be able to make the LOST meet next Saturday before heading up to the airport, flying out same day a little later...

What time do you guys usually stay at the Cars and Coffee till? They just re-scheduled my sons first game to 7:30am. I am guessing that we'd get down the the C&C a little before 9:30.

Plan B is to make it to the LOST gathering next week on the way to the airport.

Just wanted to say nice meeting Paul and Ken today at the Cars and Coffee.

I am looking forward to pulling up besides you guys in a se7en of my own soon and also seeing you and more members of LOST at the track day in March, all be it most likely not in something with Lotus genes as yet.

Cheers,

Adam

great to have had a chance to meet as well Adam...it appears there's possibly a few looking for 7's at this time just in the Houston area which is great. seeing you in Paul's SV, its probably the way to go for your height versus the standard chassis.

on another note, i need pads relatively soon for my other car, what are you running [mfg & model] and where's the best place to get them? i dont have the pccb's, just the standard rotor.

Ken, for the track I am switching to PFC 97's now, I ran Pagid yellows for my last set that are obviously a great setup but a royal pain in the ear for the street, they make your car sound like a school bus so I was switching back to OEM after the track.

I get OEM pads from Sunset Porsche , my contact there is Jeff Clark, great guy to deal with.

For the PFC's go to Michael Neujahr at Motorsport Brake Specialists

I haven't gotten the PFC's on my car yet as I missed the track day I was planning to attend last Friday, but a friend has the same compound on his S2000CR and finds them very streetable. I am hoping that'll be the case and will keep them on my car full time. I ran PFC's more aggressive compound (01's) before and they are fantastic. Another tip, being so heavy, the 996TT's when on the track generate a ton of heat, I have tried Motol RBF for brake fluid which is fine, but needs to be bled every event, I switched to Endless RF-650 since then and done multiple events without the bleed, that stuff is phenominal, just change it out once a year..

On the SV vs normal size 7, I need to drive a few to decide on that.. I'd prefer a standard size 7 to be honest if I can get comfy enough in it with a passenger. The SV was incredibly roomy and comfortable though, amazing what a little extra space does...
