scannon Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 With the change in national needs resulting in the bungling of the Bush administration and the resulting realignment of budget priorities outlined in his recent State of the Union address the president has declared that he will be refocusing the efforts of NASA for the next great observatory. This project will rely on proven technologies thus reducing costs involved with unproven concepts and developmental expenditures as the nation shifts much of NASA’s traditional roles to the civilian sector. Vice President Biden stated that the project will not require the use of heavy lift vehicles due to its unique configuration allowing the termination of the Ares launch vehicle. House Chairwoman Pelosi commented that it was high time that the US science community concentrated on the immediately achievable and not waste valuable resources needed to rebuild main street USA on blue sky programs that traditionally run over budget and are behind schedule. Chinese prime minister Wen Jiabao applauded this move stating that it will help to assure the safety of China’s 1 trillion dollar investment in the US and they will change the focus of their own space program as a result. In related news the State Department announced that discussions are under way that will hopefully deed the US portion of the ISS to China as a partial repayment of the Chinese loans. Senate Majority Leader Reid observed that he didn’t know why scientists were so interested in finding life on other planets. He made the point that we have enough problems with aliens within our borders already and absorbing any more of them would present challenges we simply aren’t ready to consider at this time.
MHKflyer52 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) SPACE THE NOT NEXT FROUNTEER.......maybe we should just bury our heads in the sand also..... Hell we still have not figured out how the Druids built Stonehenge and our present leaders seem to not care if we ever do I would suspect let alone get the economy going by killing some 20000+ jobs just in NASA not to mention the trickle down effect this is going to have here and around the world. Just my opinion and Yes I am not very PC and if you do not know what PC means then you are most likely a Gen “Y” person in my belief. Edited February 3, 2010 by MHKflyer52 Spelling
