Toyota Sudden Acceleration Temporary fix..

Recommended Posts

I went to the Toyota Dealership and asked about the recall. They did not have any of the replacement parts in just yet, but the service department did set us up with a temporary fix. I'm not too crazy about it, but went with it anyway so my wife didn't have to worry when she drove her truck. At the slightest indication of 'runaway acceleration' I can instantly launch the supplemental braking system. I hope the regular parts get here soon. I hate riding in back.....:(

None of the Toyotas I've ever driven have shown any tendency for unintended acceleration.

Having said that, they've never shown much of a tendency for intended acceleration either....

 now you have your choice of faulty accelerator or malfunctioning brakes for "moving forward". Over the years I've been so tired of hearing the mighty Toyota. Rusted out frames and engine sludge problems were brushed under the rug by people gushing over "Toyota reliability". They're just like everybody else.

This is more effective than any .gov stimulus money given to GM.

I have never seen a complete explanation. Does the car actually accelerate on its own or does the pedal simply not come back when ones foot is removed?

depends on who you ask. Toyota says it's a friction problem. But there are customers who swear the pedal was moving completely smoothly, but was no longer controlling engine power.
